  • Specific popular vegan menu items (e.g., Buffalo Cauliflower Basket).
  • High-quality screen clarity.

💡Pro Tips from Reviews

  • **Verify all food orders carefully** upon delivery and immediately request corrections for any inaccuracies.
  • **Immediately check your credit card statement** against your receipt for any unauthorized additional charges, as these have been reported.
  • **Arrive at least 30-40 minutes early** to account for potentially horrendous parking at the Foundry (can take 25+ minutes to find parking) and the strict 5-minute late entry policy.
  • **Be aware of the potential for unannounced movie, theater, or seat changes**; consider confirming details closer to showtime if seat choice is important.
  • **Budget for higher prices** for tickets and food, and factor in an automatic 20% gratuity on all food/drink orders.
  • **Be prepared for potential distractions during the movie** from constant server movement and table-side lights that remain on.
  • If a distraction-free movie experience is paramount, this venue might not be ideal.

Things to Consider

  • Frequent issues with incorrect or incomplete food orders (e.g., wrong sauce for fries, repeated mistakes with cauliflower basket orders).
  • Staff unacknowledging mistakes regarding food orders and refusing to correct them (e.g., 'oh we can't change it, their mistake').
  • Unauthorized additional charges appearing on credit cards after the initial bill ($7.50 charge after initial $7 service charge for incorrect order).
  • Slow and inconsistent food attendant service, leading to significant delays for orders (e.g., waiting 30 minutes longer than others).
  • Confusing ticketing process and poorly enforced seating, with staff checking tickets for entry but not preventing guests from sitting in the wrong seats.
  • Unannounced and uncommunicated changes to movie screenings, theater locations, and assigned seat numbers (e.g., prime seats reassigned to front row in a smaller theater).
  • Higher ticket and food prices compared to other movie theaters.
  • Strict late policy: a security guard denies entry to the theater if you are more than 5 minutes late to your seat.
  • Distracting viewing experience due to non-stop server movement between rows during the movie and table-side lights remaining on.
  • Automatic 20% gratuity applied to all food/drink orders, even when service is poor.
  • Reports of theaters 'reeking of marijuana.'
  • Horrendous parking situation at the Foundry.

Price & Value

Tickets and food are explicitly stated to be "more than any other movie theater." One family spent "over $150 for a theater experience." There is an automatic 20% gratuity on all food/drink orders, and service charges ($7) can be applied even for incorrect orders, leading to perceived low value due to service issues and high costs.

Accessibility & Special Needs

  • No specific accessibility accommodations (e.g., wheelchair access, sensory-friendly screenings) are mentioned in the reviews.

🍎Food & Drink Policy

  • Full menu available for in-seat ordering during the movie.
  • Specific vegan options are available, with the Buffalo Cauliflower Basket being a popular choice.
  • Automatic 20% gratuity is added to all food and drink bills.
  • No mention of outside food being allowed, which is typical for venues with in-house dining.

🚗Parking Info

  • Parking at the City Foundry is described as "horrendous."
  • It can take "25 minutes to find parking" and an additional "2-3 minutes to walk to the theater."

👥Crowd Levels

  • The horrendous parking situation implies the City Foundry area can be very busy, which may contribute to delays getting into the theater.
  • Food service delays (e.g., 30 minutes) suggest internal crowding or understaffing during peak times.

🛡️Safety Features

  • A security guard is present to enforce the late entry policy (denying entry if more than 5 minutes late).
  • No other specific safety features for children's play areas or general family safety are mentioned.

When to Avoid

  • If you are on a tight budget or seeking a cost-effective movie outing, due to high prices and automatic gratuity.
  • If you prioritize a completely distraction-free movie viewing experience without servers walking or lights on during the film.
  • If punctuality is a challenge due to parking or other external factors, given the strict 5-minute late policy.
  • If you expect consistently reliable, quick, and accurate food service.
  • If you are sensitive to strong odors or prefer a family-friendly atmosphere free of marijuana smells.
  • If you expect proactive and transparent communication regarding showtime or seat changes.

I love the experience every time that I go to the Alamo. The seats are comfy, and they have delicious vegan options (the cauliflower basket), and screens are clear. What I have not like recently and what makes it so I may not visit again, is for the second time I ordered the Buffalo Cauliflower Basket spelled it out and everything, mentioned sauce for fries and for a second time they brought me the side and I asked for a correction, the first visit it was fixed and the second time they did not, even when asked, they did not acknowledge the mistake just stated, oh we can't change it, their mistake. But fine, whatever 🙄! What makes me annoyed is I got my bill, and later in the day, I received an additional unauthorized charge on my credit card. Mind you, I was already charged 7 bucks service charge for incorrect/incomplete order, so I did not include an additional tip. I'm feeling cheated already but not wanting to make a big deal. So once the bill settled on my credit card, I checked again, to make sure it was not an error and compared it to my receipt, and I was indeed charged an additional $7.50 or so. I am so disappointed. That is theft, I would have given an additional tip if my meal was correct or if they tried to fix my order, but none of that happened. So realistically, knowing someone took the time to fraudulently overcharge my credit card, I won't visit again or at least not order food.

Unfortunately, I had a bad experience. I was really hoping to love it since the reviews are pretty good but that wasn't the case for me. When you spend a total of over $150 for a theater experience that experience needs to be at least good if not excellent. My problem is with the food attendants. Me and my family were the second group that walked in and took our seats. The male attendant took the orders of the folks in front of us and behind us, then he skipped us and went to the bottom of the theater to get other people's orders. Not sure what his deal was but we had to wait an additional 30 minutes longer for our order than others who entered the theater after us (another attendant finally helped us). Again, with paying over $150 for a theater experience nothing should take away from that experience. The ticketing process is a joke. The attendants ask to see your tickets to "make sure you're in the right seats" but they are really only checking to see if you paid to get in since they don't check tickets at the door. The seat numbers are confusing so people were still sitting in the wrong seats despite their tickets being "checked" to prevent that very thing. Please do better with customer service. The movie theater industry is suffering and it will only get worse if people continue to have experiences like I had at the Alamo Theater in St. Louis.

We visited while we were in town visiting family. This was our first time going, and it was such a fun experience! The food was wonderful, we loved that we could order at our seat, and the woman taking our order was so SO nice. We'll definitely come back when we're in town next. We came with kids, but this would be wonderful for a date night.

Usually Alamo Drafthouse is great, but not this weekend. We bought 6:30pm tickets for Until Dawn in the nicer, big theater, middle row. We showed up 20 minutes early and found Sinners playing instead. What the heck? They had moved Until Dawn to a smaller theater without telling us, and reassigned us to front row seats, the worst in the house. Completely unprofessional. I understand if ticket sales for Until Dawn were low, but I should have been at least notified over email and given an opportunity to select new seats. Asked for a refund and left, wasting my evening. But the vegan cauliflower basket is good! You know, when you actually get to sit in the seats you bought tickets for.

Been here a couple times before and it was never great, but I didn’t feel the need to complain until today. They charge more than any other movie theater both for tickets and food. I only come because my friend has a movie pass. Parking has always been horrendous at the foundry. Today I found out if you are more than 5 minutes late getting to your seat, they have a security guard that won’t let you into the theater. They told me they have this strict policy to “protect the viewing experience” which is funny because I watched someone walk out of the theater to use the restroom as I was talking to him. During the movie, they also have servers nonstop walking back and forth between the rows which is far more distracting than someone walking into the theater 5 minutes late. Not to mention the table-side lights that stay on during the entire movie. Saying that they value the “viewing experience” couldn’t be further from the truth. The parking situation is so disastrous on a Wednesday that you have to show up at minimum 30 minutes early. It took me 25 minutes to find parking and another 2-3 to walk to the theater. Thus why I was late to the movie…Bad parking situation with an overly strict late policy is a bad combo if you ask me. Needless to say, I won’t be back. (EDIT) Since management responded to this review, I did get a refund. However, it’s a joke if you think that makes up for the miserable service management of this theater or the 1.5 hours of my life wasted. Like others mention, they automatically add 20% gratuity to your check for any food/drink and every theater reeks of marijuana. You would think after buying an overpriced movie ticket, driving 25 minutes, and spending 30+ minutes to find parking, that you would be allowed to watch the movie that you overpaid to see. The only thing this theater excels at is losing customers for life. Can’t implore you enough to save your time and money by going to a respectable movie theater.
