About Alamo Drafthouse Cinema South Lamar
Alamo Drafthouse offers a premium, comfortable movie-watching experience with high-quality seating and a well-curated film selection, ideal for families seeking an elevated cinema outing rather than a dedicated 'kids play' venue.

Insider tips
- If considering frequent visits, evaluate the Alamo Season Pass for potential savings for your family.
- Exercise caution when ordering food, especially burgers, due to a specific report of raw and unpleasant smelling items. Consider eating elsewhere or sticking to safer options if food safety is a primary concern for your children.
- Be aware that a mandatory gratuity applies to all food and drink orders.
- For maximum comfort, note that staff might enforce a 'shoes on' policy, despite some patrons preferring to remove them.
Good to know before you go
- Ordering burgers if food safety is a primary concern, due to a specific report of raw quality.
- Expecting significant or clear benefits from the rewards program at present.
- If you are very sensitive to mandatory gratuity or wish to avoid potential conflicts over personal comfort rules (e.g., shoe removal).
- Burgers were reported as raw and unpleasant smelling on one occasion, raising significant food safety concerns for children and adults alike.
- Inconsistent food quality reports (some reviewers found food great, others had major issues).
- Value
- The Alamo Season Pass provides excellent value for frequent visitors, allowing for easy, repeated visits. General ticket prices are not specified, but the experience offers comfortable seating and premium viewing. However, a mandatory gratuity applies to all food and drink orders, which will increase the final cost. Loyalty rewards points currently lack clear, actionable benefits, diminishing their perceived value.
- Food
- Full in-theater food and drink service is available, including burgers, cocktails, and a wide beer selection. However, there are conflicting reports on food quality, with one significant concern about raw burgers. Mandatory gratuity applies to all orders.
- Accessibility
- No specific accessibility accommodations (e.g., wheelchair details, sensory-friendly hours) or special needs provisions for children mentioned in the reviews.
- Safety
- No specific safety features for children (e.g., supervised play areas, wristbands for tracking) are mentioned. A staff member's enforcement of a 'shoes off' policy citing 'health code' suggests some operational standards, but not general child safety features.
What parents say
"Always a fantastic experience! Disappointed when we go to other cinemas. This is the best for quality of food and above all else the comfortable, reclining seats. Even the front row is good! Note to management: 1. We are loyal and collect rewards points but where are the benefits? We'd probably come more if there were some. Like free X appetizer with X points would bring us in to a movie we wouldn't have otherwise attended then we'd spend $50+ anyways. 2. The last movie we went to i think we had a new server. He commented about how the fact that i took my shoes off was against health code an"

"We visited Alamo Cinema and was thoroughly impressed with the cozy atmosphere. The seating is comfortable, and the ambiance is perfect for a relaxing movie night. The staff was friendly and attentive, adding to the overall pleasant experience. However, I must express my disappointment with the food, particularly the burgers. Unfortunately, they were served raw and had an unpleasant smell. This significantly detracted from an otherwise enjoyable visit. I hope the management takes this feedback seriously and improves the quality of their food offerings. Despite the issue with the burgers, the "
