a month agoThe Big Blue Bear at the Colorado Convention Center in downtown Denver is one of the city’s most iconic and eclectic art installations. Standing at 40 feet tall, this curious blue bear peering into the glass windows of the convention center creates a fun, almost surreal contrast with the sleek urban surroundings. Seeing such a massive polar bear-like sculpture in the middle of Denver’s downtown district—surrounded by high-end hotels, upscale restaurants, and an unmistakable view of the Rocky Mountains—adds a unique and humble energy to the area! Just two blocks away, the 16th Street Mall keeps the city buzzing with shopping, dining, and entertainment, making this spot a must-visit if you’re a local or just passing through. The combination of modern city life, artistic expression, and a nod to Colorado’s wild side makes the Big Blue Bear a perfect symbol of Denver’s personality. Whether you’re grabbing a drink at a rooftop bar, exploring nearby attractions, or simply walking by, this giant bear never fails to leave an impression!

6 months agoI'm such a tourist i loved taking pictures at all angles. The bear peeping into the convention center is too cute. I'm certain there is a reason we can't actually get close and personal but I enjoyed the view nonetheless.

5 months agoOf course The Traveling Bear had to visit the Big Blue Bear! We parked on the street and quickly took pictures inside and outside of the convention center. It’s such a fun spot for an adorable photo.

a month agoSuch an icon, One of those things I'll explain to people when they're from out of state or online and they just won't get it. Also I miss when he was used for social change or commentary. Does anyone remember when they had to get a forklift out to move the massive pile of poop that they put under him. That was hilarious and I loved it. One of those things if you heard a visit the city you should definitely get a photo of. He's iconic enough that other people who have been the Denver will recognize him, but esoteric enough that you'll be able to explain it to anyone who doesn't get it. Don't know if I'm a huge fan of his geometric look, but I also get that. That's a choice from the artist so it's personal preference thing. Something I wish they'd do more is to dress him up for holidays. Like put a giant Santa hat on him for Christmas, or maybe we could pay some people to paint a broncos jersey on them when we start winning again? Or I guess we're all about the avs now? Either way, I feel like he has the potential to be a pretty dynamic mascot.

9 months agoVisiting the Big Blue Bear at the Denver Convention Center was a delightful experience. While parking downtown can be a bit challenging, we opted to ride bikes, which made our visit even more enjoyable. The convention center itself is a great place to spend a few hours. The iconic Big Blue Bear is a must-see, and crossing the street to take photos from various angles offers fantastic opportunities for unique shots. The location is incredibly convenient, situated near most tourist spots and just a short walk from the bustling 16th Street Mall area. Overall, the Big Blue Bear is a fun and memorable stop in Denver, perfect for locals and tourists alike. Highly recommended!
