9 months agoStandard boat rental place that steps it up by holding awesome events and being highly integrated into the community. The Burgers on the Bay event was so much fun. The burgers were cooked on a floating platform to which you had to paddle to order. The line was long, but it was so enjoyable waiting as the day was beautiful and there was live music from local musicians. They have a small concession stand with snacks and summer treats and a nice lounging area. They also set up small activities on the lawn during the event, including 4 square volleyball.

7 months agoI just wrapped up my second season as a member of Madison Boats. This season I paddled at my favorite spot, Brittingham Boats many times, but also tried out Lake Wingra, and Marshall Boats. The staff are amazing. Everyone cares about their job and your paddle. They are beyond friendly and helpful. The available equipment is top notch and well maintained. When I think of summer in Madison, being on the water is a big part of it and these guys are the reason for that. They know the lakes and they are ready for you and your next adventure. 11 out of 10 - big recommendation Great selection of boats, including single and double kayaks, canoes, and SUP. Everyone who works there is super nice and helpful. This place needs a water bottle refill station and/or a drinking fountain. So far, I have only kayaked. I want to try the SUP and will do that soon and update. Have been out on a SUP several times. Has been challenging and fun. The crew at Brittingham has been super helpful. Another fantastic paddle in August. Saw a guy on a paddle board with 2 dogs on the board. He was throwing a ball into the lake and the dogs were swimming back and climbing onto his board Even with the increase in lake levels, Brittingham Boats is delightful

10 months agoWe had to wait until the weather passed to go out. Staff strict about letting you out, has to be 1/2 since last thunder is heard. We had a great time. Staff very patient with me getting in and out of kayak due to knee issues. Paddled to Wingra Creek and back.

8 months agoBest place to launch paddle boards and kayaks. Parking is limited, and streets were pretty full, so arrive early if you need to park close!

2 years agoMy favorite place to kayak in Madison. The staff are always kind and accommodating. I recommend going in the early morning or evening when it’s not too hot and the sun won’t be beating down on you. The waters are usually nice and calm and great for people who have never gone kayaking before. Life vest provided but not required to be worn. Staff help you get in and out of the kayak. Great views of the city and wildlife (birds mostly).
