a month agoWhat an amazing experience! My 16 year old daughter and I did a Behind the Scenes visit yesterday afternoon with the excellent guidance of Center educators Abby and Anna. We learned so much about these incredible and adaptive endangered mammals. We were able to meet a 3 month baby and observe his behaviors (including stealing a peanut from his mother) as the staff did a training for recall in preparation of allowing the lemurs outdoor access in the warmer months. Our leaders shared so much information and even did a feeding with some of the smallest nocturnal species. This amazing team of scientists, educators, and animal caretaking is a true gem. We highly encourage visitors to support the Center.

8 months agoMy husband and I did the walking with lemurs tour at 8:15AM. Totally worth the early wake up. Saw five different species of lemurs and were able to get close for some great experiences. Recommend for all the lemur lovers out there.

a year agoThe Duke Lemur Center in Durham, North Carolina, is an incredible place to explore. The lemurs are captivating, and the staff's dedication to their care and conservation is evident. A must-visit for anyone interested in wildlife and education!

6 years agoWhat a fantastic facility with great access to the lemurs! During the summer they have open house weekends when the lemurs are viewable in enclosures and also indoors in the nocturnal house where those lemurs who are active at night are on a flipped schedule from our own. During the summer they don't offer first this where you can see the lemurs in the forest outside of the enclosures which I'm sure is fantastic.

6 years agoWhat a great experience! While the center itself may be a bit awkward to find, my GPS was accurate. If you drive yourself, there is ample parking. Make sure you come property dressed for the weather. If it's raining, you might get wet and muddy. The tours were prompt and informative. Everyone that worked there was friendly and knowledgeable. They have a plethora of lemurs which is a true treat in North America! A definite must-stop if you're in the area.
