a year agoReally nice views on this trail. There is no one path that you can walk on, instead the trail weaves between different points in the Presidio. You can walk towards the main parade grounds, the presidio wall playground and the inspiration point view point. The trail is mildly hilly, but the views make it worth it. It's not too strenuous and not too long overall.

6 years agoThe views of Alcatraz are stellar. The paths are well maintained, and wander through several biomes making for an exciting walk. Find shade when it gets too warm and sun when it's chilly. A perfect spot for running, hiking, or nature walking. Expect to see red tail hawks. There is 4 hour parking, and a bathroom across the parking lot to the west in the golf course club. Just enter the main doors and make an immediate left. The only drawback is that there are many dog walkers who sometimes don't keep the dogs under control. I've been jumped on more times than I can count. Lost a good pair of leggings to one zealously friendly mutt.

3 months agoAwesome trail; started at Arguello Gate, walked downhill to inspiration point, down to the redwood grove, down to tunnel tops for lunch and playground, then walked back via El Tajin springs
