Insider tips

  • For families, consider discussing the difficulty level with EscapeSF when booking, especially if you have first-timers or younger children in your group, to ensure an appropriate challenge.
  • Embrace teamwork and active communication; the puzzles are designed to be collaborative.
  • Don't hesitate to ask your host for hints if you get stuck, as they are there to help ensure a rewarding experience (as highlighted by host Abbi's helpfulness).
  • Allocate sufficient time for the activity, as some groups escape 'with only 1 minute to spare', indicating a full and engaging experience.

Good to know before you go

  • Bringing very young children (e.g., under 8-10) who may lack the patience or cognitive skills for complex, 'difficult' puzzles, potentially leading to frustration.
  • If your family prefers purely physical activities or experiences with minimal intellectual engagement, this might not be the best fit.
  • Some rooms are explicitly described as 'HARD' or the 'most difficult room', which could be frustrating for families with younger children or those new to escape rooms if the difficulty isn't chosen carefully.

"Our organization hired EscapeSF to do two on-site activities where they brought the 'escape room' to our office. This was such a blast, and everyone enjoyed the event. Although we weren't escaping from a room, we were trying to break into these high-tech briefcases using collaboration and various clues. This activity was used in our new-hire orientation program, and the gentlemen at EscapeSF made it so easy and such a great experience. Thank you!"

"This turned out to be a great experience with my wife. We had to work together to escape Alcatraz by solving puzzles so we could unlock multiple rooms so we could escape."

"Took my work team and we had a great experience. We didn't know we had picked the most difficult room, but we made it through with one hint. The props are cool and the puzzles definitely take teamwork. Ours also had multiple rooms. Would definitely recommend."
