2 months agoWhat a delightful museum! We learned so much about local birds and bees. The space exhibitions, including the Apollo 6 capsule. The Nixon micro photography contest winners were brilliant! I would enjoy returning for a planetarium show and when the observatory is ooen.

9 months agoCome on the weekday crowds are very low. This is a fantastic place for kids between ages of 6 to 12. Overall, there is a lot to read and a lot to do here for a good half of a day. The Georgia history section is fantastic and does a lot of wonderful natural history. The kids enjoyed the activities on the third floor like the science center where they got to do experiments and also the play area which was an underwater theme. Outside is spacious and has a lot of fun activities for kids again. The IMAX theater was good. Definitely get there about 15 minutes ahead of time. We saw the T-Rex exhibit, I did not enjoy it so much but the kids loved it.

5 months agoBlown away by the staff and exhibitions! I walked in to drop my daughter off for her dance performance and was greeted by Carvel and Ifeude. I had no expectations upon entering but as I was guided through the Center I quickly realized that the environment was a trigger for creative inspiration and nostalgia. I passed by the towering dinosaurs that took me back to childhood. I was captured by that LED sphere of the globe projecting real-time weather patterns. I stopped to see an authentic NASA space suit before being mesmerized by a space ship. Yes, an actual Apollo 6 Capsule. I spoke to honeybees busy at work, lounging lizards, and all the species of native birds I’ve come to know and love. Once my daughter finished, we ran up to the observatory to see an image of the moon so clear you will try to capture it on your phone (spoiler alert: it’s not a easy so I recommend just enjoying the moment and keep it in your heart as a secret memory). We then went to the “Family Switch” movie sized telescope where we were able to see… Saturn. It was my first time. I’m taking my boys to experience. There’s so many more inspiring things to discover. As of 11/2024 there was active construction, the staff said that they are making improvements. Entry is FREE! 🤯 I attended the collaboration with @Dekalb School of the Arts (Dance and Visual Arts Dept) as they highlighted Da Vinci x STEAM. The night included GPB’s Da Vinci film premiere in the planetarium, Georgia Tech brought Astro the robodog, the Association of Medical Illustrators introduced students to a new career path, and Adobe Firefly demonstrated their AI image generation capabilities.

2 months agoCool place.Got planetarium tickets from Groupon . Left directly from work and reached there around 5.30 pm.Walked around the center to see exhibits. ) The exhibits inside the center are nice. Took a short walk outside the center ,beautiful sunset view.Saw the 7 pm planetarium show(45 minute show) .Then went to observatory and saw Jupiter around 8.30 pm .I was told that you can see Mars through the telescope after some time .There was a 15-20 minutes wait time in the line for observatory .Overall spent three hours and felt fully rejuvenated after a busy work day.Highly recommend.
