3 months agoA very unique and incredible museum in Rochester, New York one portion of the museum is the home of George Eastman 10 acres, which shows so much character and it’s been preserved so well then there’s a portion of the grounds which has beautiful florals. I can’t wait to come back in the summertime, and then the second part of museum has Photography and film, history and cameras, which are very unique to see and there’s even a restaurant. It’s the perfect thing to do a cold or rainy day indoors or in the summer. I can’t wait to tour the gardens. We went early on a Saturday morning, did not have any wait to buy tickets

5 months agoHad a wonderful time at the GE House 2024 holiday fundraiser! Beautiful music, decorated so lovely, plus seeing the fabulous gingerbread houses! Enjoyed the wine and appetizers as well as seeing the 1910 film A Christmas Carol! Only 15 min long, a silent film; and a gentleman gave us the background about it then played the organ music to accompany the film!

7 months agoNice, gorgeous local museum explaining the history of George Eastman and his creation of the Kodak company and his ideas that made film and photography as popular as they are today. His home is gorgeous and you can see the minute detail he made sure was put into everything, from the carvings, to plaster ceilings and the hand cut and placed tiles in his mother's bathroom. Incredible and a delight to walk around and explore. They do guided tours at 1030a and 2p which I highly recommend doing. Our guide was knowledgeable, personable, and made sure everyone could hear and see what she was talking about. Otherwise if you don't want to do the tour you can explore at your own pace and each room has a book explaining all the details that you can read. Also make sure you check out the gardens which are splendid. Very peaceful and elegant; a wonderful place to sit, rest your feet, listen to the birds, and watch the squirrels and bunnies run about.

7 months agoI had an absolute fantastic visit to the George Eastman Museum! The stunning Colonial Revival-style mansion and beautifully maintained gardens are worth the visit alone, but the exhibitions truly make this museum shine. The permanent exhibits showcasing the evolution of photography through George Eastman's pioneering work and the creation of Kodak are fascinating and informative. I was also thrilled to explore the temporary exhibitions, which featured an incredible collection of original vintage movie posters - a film buff's dream! The museum's attention to detail and dedication to preserving the history of photography are evident throughout. Friendly staff and well-curated exhibits made for a seamless and enjoyable experience. Whether you're a photography enthusiast, history buff, or simply looking for a unique attraction, the George Eastman Museum is a must-visit destination. Highly recommend!
