a week agoThis is our third visit to great wolf and the updates have been largely great! I miss the clock and animatronics and the rooms are definitely smaller. However the attractions are excellent and the customer service is really where great wolf shines. Biggest con: Beware of the very high resort fee. $40 more a night than the advertised price, and you’re paying a very high premium for food. Pro: Magiquest remains the family favorite, even over the water slides. There’s nothing like running around and playing “wizard”. It offers a nice reprieve from the noise and humidity of the water park itself. Safety in the waterpark blows me away. The lifeguards are incredibly attentive; not once did I worry about my kids while they were out of sight. These LGs are working hard, never distracted, very well trained. Our favorite person: Annette (one of the magicquest guides) has been memorable on our two prior experiences here at great wolf, and I recognized her instantly when we arrived on this vacation. She is simply the best game master you could ask for in your business—and I say this as a bit of a nerd who used to play a lot of fantasy games before having kids—Annette is knowledgeable, helpful, friendly, extremely kind and saved us when we had a wand issue. There has been no one in my extensive travel experience who comes close to the level of service and trustworthiness she provides me as a guest. Seriously, keep her forever no matter what. I hope you pay her what she is worth.

a week agoThe pizza for the birthday party package was horrible. Was not able to add any more toppings to the pizza even after offering to pay for more toppings. The birthday cake was not very good either. The rooms were just okay and I really couldn't sleep well with the beds or the pillows. We had a light that did not work it was the main light above the only table. I heard a lot of talk about food prices being outrageous but I thought they were fair. The lifeguards were pretty nice and hopeful. I went with my 5,7 and 12-year-old and we had a lot of fun in the water park. We were so busy with the water park we really didn't get to do the magi quest thing much. We were busy and the kids got along. Overall an enjoyable experience. We stayed in a basic double queen room on the first floor.

a week agoFirst time at gwl and I have to say overall I was impressed. I think overall the service was the biggest thing for me. Not once did I have a bad experience and everyone was very helpful. Didn’t do any magic quest add-ons as my kids are smaller and probably would not have enjoyed it. I did spend close to about $100 per night though at the arcade but that was expected. The food was pretty good and prices seemed reasonable for a water park. My one complaint was the beds though! Man my rooms beds were rough. Im writing this at 3am because I can’t sleep on these beds. New beds are def needed. Other than that very cool place and we will for sure be back. Suggestions: We brought stuff to make ham and cheese sandwiches in between meals and it saved us some money. Also bring your own water. Water bottles are $2.99

2 weeks agoThis is a must do if your kids are under 14. It is so much fun. Even if you did not all do the magic game, its still really fun. The first time we went we did not do the magic game. This time we did do it. It took 2 days. I think it's an amazing value that the kids are literally occupied for 2 days playing that game. That is between swimming and eating breaks and other entertainment as well. It is amazing. The rooms are great. The facility is great. Sometimes you have to wait a long time for popcorn refills or food service. But other than that it's amazing.

2 weeks agoWe were excited to come stay again this year now that all renovations are finished and everything. The experience is pretty much the same, overpriced for what you get but expected with it being a novelty. We go with a group so it's a blast and all of the kids enjoy running around together. This year was the first time we had any issues. The main issue being that the room we had for our first night had two cockroaches that we saw. They did swap our rooms for the second night but trying to get the wristbands was a hassle since they didn't have the new room ready until 2 and wouldn't just give us the kid wristbands to swap out. We had to pull everyone from the waterpark to swap them out so that they could get into the room. There was not even an apology, much less anything in the way of helping make up for the inconvenience. While we were in the waterpark, we also watched two little girls come swimming out of the tube after they had been allowed to go down together and were too little so the tube ended up flipping. They were understandably freaked out. We also got information about the ropes course from multiple sources and they all conflict so seems like it will depend on who's working at the time. A family package is for four or six people and can maybe only be used once or maybe twice if you only have three people, but I can't guarantee anything. Such nice people working, but feels chaotic and like nobody quite knows what's going on.
