Expert Summary

Detailed Insights

The Hi-Pointe Theatre is a beautifully remodeled, historic St. Louis movie theatre known for its comfortable seating, friendly staff, and delicious popcorn. While the provided reviews highlight its general appeal for adult-oriented films, its overall pleasant environment, cleanliness, and accessibility features make it a suitable option for families considering a traditional cinema experience with older children or teens. Parents seeking specific children's programming should verify the current schedule, as the reviews do not mention dedicated kids' shows or family-specific events.

Key Highlights

  • Beautifully remodeled and re-decorated historic theatre with a lovely style
  • Very comfortable seating throughout the theatre
  • Friendly, kind, and responsive staff members at concessions and as greeters
  • Delicious popcorn available at the concession stand
  • Theatre is larger than expected, offering a spacious feel
  • Clean facilities, indicating good maintenance

Standout Features

  • Delicious popcorn, a classic movie theatre treat
  • Friendly and helpful staff enhancing the overall experience
  • First-floor restroom providing easy accessibility for all patrons, including those with strollers or mobility issues

Perfect For

Based *solely* on the film titles mentioned in these reviews (Greta Gerwig's Little Women, Humanist Vampire Seeking Consenting Suicidal Person, Present Laughter, AARP sponsored Black History Month movie), this venue appears to primarily screen adult-oriented or general audience films, not specific children's programming or live theatre for kids.
Therefore, it would be suitable for older children or teenagers (e.g., 10+) who are interested in general cinema offerings and the specific films being screened.
No specific amenities, programming, or suitability are mentioned for toddlers or young children (under 8) in these reviews.

Ideal For

Parents looking to take older children or teenagers to a classic, comfortable general movie theatre.
A pleasant and clean movie outing for adults, potentially with well-behaved older children.
Families seeking a historic venue experience combined with modern amenities for a film viewing.

💡Pro Tips from Reviews

  • If planning a visit with children, *always* check their specific film schedule beforehand to ensure age-appropriateness, as the reviewed films suggest an adult-focused selection.
  • For families with members sensitive to background noise, be aware of minor HVAC sounds during quiet film scenes, although reviewers found them not 'harshly disruptive'.
  • Utilize the convenient first-floor restroom, especially if navigating with strollers or young children.

Things to Consider

  • Noticeable, though not harshly disruptive, noise from the HVAC system during quiet moments of films. This could potentially be a minor distraction for very sensitive individuals.

Beautiful old St. Louis movie theatre. I saw Greta Gerwig's Little Women there when I was new to town, and then Humanist Vampire Seeking Consenting Suicidal Person there years later. Their popcorn is delicious, and if you, like me, don't deal with stairs well, there's a perfectly good restroom on the first floor.

This was my first time visiting the Hi-Pointe, and I had a great time. Staff members at the concession stand were friendly, and the greeter was nice and informative. Overall the the theatre was larger than I expected. I did notice, noise from HVAC system during quiet moments of the film (well I'm assuming it was the HVAC system). But these sounds weren't harshly disruptive.

The theater has been remodeled, and it is so nice. I enjoyed the movie sponsored by AARP. It was for Black History month. Wonderful movie.

Saw “Present Laughter” with Andrew Scott filmed at the Old Vic. It was delightful. The theater is clean and nicely re-decorated. Staff was kind and responsive.
