4 years agoEspecially during shutdown, it was refreshing to walk through the lush greenery, then, near the top, to feel the breeze. It was fun to see different toys placed on top of stumps or within little spaces.

5 years agoIt’s truly the journey not the destination that’s the beauty of this wonderful urban hike. Gorgeous path winding through a large cathedral like eucalyptus grove. The trees are covered in dark green vines, like huge furry pillars. Near sunset and dawn, you can hear the chorus of all kinds of birds. Good for family, dogs and sometimes cycling. Can be muddy during rain.

5 years agoOne of the wildest areas of San Francisco, you'll encounter diverse vegetation and some truly off-the-beaten track hiking trails here. To get a sense of the area, one suggested walking tour would be to start well below the area at the Laguna Honda Reservoir. Then walk up Clarendon Ave to Christopher Drive and then head up two steep sets of stairs as you head to Bair Ave and then on to the Interior Greenbelt, where you are rewarded with great views. You can wander around the Sutro Native Plant Nursery and then take some trails around the UCSF housing towards Belgrave Ave. Exit at the top of Stanyan St for some incredible views!

6 years agoI just found this forest in the middle of the city. Such a beautiful mini-forest filled with birds, wild flowers, hikers, dog walkers and bikers. It was so wonderful I lose track of time.
