"This is a good location to begin a kayak or canoe trip on the Illinois River. Walk or bike the levee west 1/2 mile west to historic Morris, restaurants and antique shops. I easily reserved a campsite and kayaks through the Kayak Morris website for a weekend in late spring that turned out cold and rainy. With difficulty we located the poorly signed dirt road entrance, avoided deep ruts filled with stagnant water, and parked on an earthen berm held in place by railroad ties. The campsites were deeply shaded by tall trees and nearly at the level of the shoreline. The campground appeared deserte"
