4 months agoA nice nature-filled park/wooded trail. If you walk the outer-loop, its around a 2.5-3 mile hike. Not too difficult, very manageable, many people brought their families/dogs. At this trailhead there isnt much parking, maybe 6 to 8 spaces? But there are several entrances you can choose from, so if one is full its easy to go to another. Its quite popular so you'll definitely see others on the trail, and it is next to a busy road at some parts. Overall a pleasant experience to get out into the woods while still being close to home.

a year agoGreat place for hiking. Doesn't have much elevation except at a few places, quite easy. It is well covered in trees, so it gets dark earlier. Trails can be a little bit confusing as so many cross-tracks are there. I recommend using 'AllTrails' or some other maps. Not much bugs or mosquitos.

2 years agoThis is not the easiest park to find, but I do find myself coming back here. It's quiet, there are not a lot of people, and it's just a peaceful, somewhat rough, trail. I included some photos of the damage and trail maintenance. Also, a lot of roots, invading the trail, making it stumble worthy. This parking lot is kind of small, and there were six cars here today, but I only ran into three people on the trails.

a year agoWe were pleasantly surprised by this beautiful trail that's really close to home! There are several interlocking trails, so we kept AllTrails Navigate handy (as always). Even though we've had tons of rain lately, there were only a few damp spots. Overall great condition.

3 years agowhat isn't there to love about a park where you can let your dog run free and endlessly explore without ever seeing everything. I believe this is the second largest park in Richmond city but you wouldn't know it from the popularity. This park has come such a long way over the past 10 years although it's now relatively crowded on the weekends; if you go on weekdays and week nights you'd be lucky to see more than one or two other people. Definitely look at the map and plan your route before you start! A good 1 mile hike is easily accessible from parking at the fire station / gas station lot hiking straight down the main path and cutting left to loop around back to the lot after going down the steep incline after the mossy plateau.
