💡Pro Tips from Reviews
- →If planning a group visit, confirm discounted rates in writing beforehand, although staff may be accommodating on-site.
- →Consider the 2-week trial membership for ~$40 to access all three Momentum gyms and experience the setting before committing to a full membership.
- →For those sensitive to crowds, try climbing 'early in the morning' as it's typically less busy.
- →Parents should be aware that routes are perceived to be 'set hard here', so manage expectations for very young or absolute beginner climbers.
- →Bring your own food/snacks if you prefer, as outside food is allowed, especially for pre-arranged groups.
Things to Consider
- ⚠Routes are perceived to be 'set hard here', which might be challenging for absolute beginners or very young children, though a 'plethora of problems' suggests variety.
- ⚠One reviewer found the 'problems didn't seem nearly as fun as at the other gyms' in SLC, indicating a subjective preference in route setting style for some experienced climbers.
- ⚠Compared to other gyms in Salt Lake City, one reviewer felt it was 'a little week' for experienced local climbers, suggesting it might not be the top choice for highly advanced individuals *if* other options are conveniently available.
Price & Value
A 2-week trial membership is available for approximately $40, providing access to all three Momentum gyms in town, which offers excellent value for exploring the facilities. A discounted group rate of $14 per person was mentioned, though it required on-site approval in one instance, suggesting it's best to confirm group pricing in advance.
♿Accessibility & Special Needs

⏰When to Avoid
- • Potentially not ideal for families with very young children (e.g., under 6-8 years old) if there are limited very easy routes due to the 'harder setting'.
- • Experienced climbers who strongly prefer a specific 'fun' factor in route setting that might differ from Momentum's style.
- • No specific times to avoid were explicitly stated beyond early mornings being less crowded, implying afternoons/evenings or weekends could be busier.

8 months agoI love the upgrades they have made to the Momentum Bouldering gym. They change the routes like clockwork every few months and have fun events for the public. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly. They are great at talking gear and routes.

2 years agoCool gym, but in light of what else is available in town, I'd only go here occasionally. For what it is, it's amazing. It reminds me a lot of the Momentum in Houston. The top out boulders are very cool. They set hard here, and the problems didn't seem nearly as fun as at the other gyms. I climbed early in the morning, so there weren't many people around. The showers were super clean. The staff was friendly. They offered me a 2 week trial membership for about $40, which will get you into all three gyms in town. If I lived in salt lake, I'd definitely be a member at Momentum. If you live in the southern part of town, and this was close to you, be a member and climb at Millcreek whenever you can do the drive. This gym is still better than most east coast gyms, but for SLC it's a little week. I still very much look forward to going again.

a year agoWe arrived and had pizza we had brought. Staff was understanding when we had scheduled in advance to climb with our adult church group. We anticipated the discounted rate of $14 per person but didn’t have any email management agreeing to this but in the end the young lady helping us got it approved. We all had a very good time and learned a bit about climbing. Thank you Momentum!
