10 months agoLovely river for kayaking or canoeing. I wish the dock were bigger. There is usually someone there to help you get in and out of the kayak but it would definitely be easier if the dock was wider. With both people there it makes it harder for the person to get out, I could slide by butt on to the dock but pretty much had to turn all the way around so that I could have enough space to get my feet under mee. So far I have been there twice and it is the same problem both times. The dock is probably only a 3-4ft square. I even tried to sneak in before the person came down to help so that I would have more room to get out but they came down to quick. The people manning the desk tend to be younger and more agile but I am older and not as graceful when trying to stand up let alone out of a boat.

4 years agoRented a double kayak at this Paddle Boston location in the evening. The parking lot is right off the road conveniently and there are ample spots. The staff were friendly. This boating location is definitely different than the other locations like Allston or Kendall. You are not out in the wide, open, Charles river. Instead you row along a narrow Mystic river channel, going underneath bridges, occasionally greeting ducks and swans, and navigating away from algae blooms here and there. Depending on which direction you start rowing, you face the setting sun while either starting or returning, and boy that is beautiful! (don't forget your shades). My wife and I spent a pleasant summer evening here.

10 months agoIt’s a fun time. We are not big kayakers. We have done it a few times. This was our first time here. The Mystic is a pretty calm river. We went up as far as the lakes up in Arlington/Winchester. I think it’s a little too expensive. The dock isn’t easy. Overall it was good.

11 months agoWe are so grateful for having Paddle Boston kayaks on the Charles and Mystic. It is so nice to glide over the water and to enjoy the illusion of a nature escape for a couple of hours almost at one's door step. Regrettably, the landing is full of goose poop and the staff doesn't seem to mind that as an older person I have to hold on to it and kneel in it when i get on and off.

3 years agoExcellent place to rent a kayak or canoe. Friendly staff, equipment is in good state, they have life jackets and paddles for adults and kids. Porta porties close by too. The Mystic river is calm and easy; the Mystic lakes are about an hour paddle away.
