Penguin Park

This park is pretty cool and interesting and the animals are cool to look at. My son and I came and it was filthy… Trash everywhere, some of the equipment was just old looking and rusty and gross. We found 3 gas station cups on the ground and two lighters not even close to the trashcans. Its a good cool park but if you look too close into it; it gets worse and worse…

What a strange, awesome park. So glad I looked up playgrounds near me and found this. Lots of old and new features, lots of spinning things. Inclusive playground with swings and merry go rounds for disabled people and even ground which can easily be traversed with a wheelchair or wagon. Lots of climbing structures and slides. Plenty of shaded seating including a large picnic area with picnic tables. Would be an absolutely wonderful place to have a birthday party. Has a nice water fountain that can refill bottles too. Could easily spend hours here playing

Playground equipment, in theory, is cool. Everything else is disgusting and not maintained, like at all. Brought my kids here during a trip to the city after seeing the recommendation online. There was trash all over the park and play areas, graffiti, remnants of a birthday party that no one cleaned up, alcoholic beverage cans, a creepy dude walking his dog off leash, torn up play surface, etc. Overall, just dirty. As a parks department employee for another city, I understand that the general public can be disrespectful of public spaces, but all the more reason for the parks department or park district that manages the park to have someone checking this park regularly, especially after the weekend. Restrooms were unlocked but not usable because they were so gross. Grass needed mowed. Weeds growing up through the gaga ball pit. The list goes on and on. Super disappointed.

Really cool park with potential, but everytime I’m there there is something broken, what if it will cause some accident for kids? Kangaroo is cool but always smells like pee, doesn’t know if homeless people hang out there or what? Big potential cool ideas but not every well maintained.
