💡Pro Tips from Reviews

  • Visit during the morning, especially in summer, to avoid the intense afternoon heat.
  • Bring hats, sunscreen, and plenty of water due to the limited shade.
  • Advise children to check the temperature of metal poles and swing chains before touching them in hot weather.
  • Plan to use alternative restrooms or bring sanitizing supplies, as park bathrooms are reported to be unsanitary.
  • Arrive early to secure picnic tables for birthday parties or family functions, as they are first-come, first-served.
  • Encourage children to bring scooters or bikes to fully enjoy the trails.
  • Follow park signs regarding wildlife; do not feed the squirrels or other animals.

Things to Consider

  • Limited natural shade, causing the playground and most benches to get very hot during summer afternoons.
  • Playground poles and swing chains can become extremely hot in the summer, posing a burn risk.
  • The park's pond can be dried out at times (seasonal).
  • Presence of new graffiti noted by a reviewer.
  • Restrooms are reported to be unsanitary and not recommended for use.
  • Picnic tables for events (like birthday parties) are available on a first-come, first-served basis, meaning reservations do not guarantee a specific table or spot.

Price & Value

Free entry. Offers excellent value as a public park with a variety of amenities including a playground, extensive trails, scenic views, and picnic areas.

Accessibility & Special Needs

  • No specific accessibility accommodations (e.g., sensory-friendly hours, staff training) are mentioned in the reviews. Trails may be suitable for strollers and wheelchairs, but this is not explicitly confirmed.

🍎Food & Drink Policy

  • Outside food and drinks are allowed, making it suitable for picnics and birthday parties. Signs are present discouraging feeding of wildlife.

🚗Parking Info

  • Plenty of parking lot space is available, making arrival easy for visitors and events.

👥Crowd Levels

  • Mornings are generally not crowded ('not bad').
  • Likely gets busier during summer afternoons (due to heat warnings suggesting more use during cooler parts of day) and potentially on weekends for events.

🛡️Safety Features

  • Playground is visible from picnic tables, aiding parental supervision.
  • Signs are posted to prevent feeding squirrels, contributing to park hygiene and wildlife safety.

When to Avoid

  • Visiting during summer afternoons due to extreme heat on playground equipment and lack of shade.
  • Relying on the park's public restrooms for cleanliness.
  • Expecting a guaranteed private picnic area without arriving early to claim it.

Great playground with lots to do. Great for the fall, but little shade, so might be too hot in the summer. Update: It isn't bad in the morning, but the playground gets hot during the afternoon. There is partial shade under a tree, but most of the benches are in the sun. Great paths for walking and biking.

A great park for kids and a nice trail for walking biking or riding a scooter. The little pond is dried out right now and there seems to be some new graffiti I've never seen before. Other than a great park indeed.

I was here for a kids birthday party. The park seemed quite big and one has to come on a first come first basis reservation if you have to reserve the table for a picnic or family function. While the birthday celebration was going on, there was a next table where a baby shower function was going as well. The restroom, garbage all were nearby and the playground for kids to play was visible from the table so it was convenient for the parents to keep an eye on their kids. It seems like a good park. Enough parking lot space as well.

Clean and well maintained. So glad there's not too many squirrels, Thank goodness people pay attention to the signs and don't feed them!

Very nice park, great view of the lake in the middle of penitencia Creek Park and had so much wild life roaming around like Ducks/squirrels/goose/pigeons/cats some times/and just a nice size park with plenty of room to run out and have fun, would 100% recommend going, but one downside is that most of the poles/swing chains get very hot during summer, And the bathrooms would not recommend due to it being unsanitary,Besides that its a very fun park!
