Phoenix Rock Gym

The Phoenix Rock Gym is a Tempe-based business that I visited, with a large group, for a youth program in January 2025. While the business itself looked to be organized and taken care of, and while the youth (ages 13-18) who joined us enjoyed their time here, I was most impressed with the amazing staff. The staff were very professional, and so helpful to everyone (beginners and experts) that visited. With staff who exhibit such professionalism, and are so helpful, this is a place i'd gladly visit again; and it's undeniably a place that I would bring groups to (regardless of their previous experience with wall climbing).

I'm a field geologist who's based in Tucson. I travel all over the state for work and always love checking out local climbing gyms when I'm on the road. I've stopped by PRG several nights to get some climbing in after work and have always loved it! Great staff, a sweet bouldering area, and a super cool climbing museum in the loft area. Interesting problems and a killer workout! I can't speak for the toproping routes as I travel solo but they look awesome! There were no auto-belays that I saw, unfortunately but regardless Phoenix Rock Gym is definitely one of my favorite climbing gyms in town. I'm totally going to have to bring my climbing partner here!

Awesome, awesome place to go to. I went there and it was my first time doing any sort of rock climbing at all. The staff were super helpful and it was easier to learn the basics than I thought it would be. It’s a very cool environment with tons of space. I recommend it for sure and am looking forward to going back

On Dec 26th 2024 I took my sister, and my 2 nieces to this rock gym for some fun. My 10 yoa niece Emily had so much fun she did her Xmas essay about it. Thank you for the great experience!! 5 stars! Best Place Ever! Have you ever been rock climbing? Well, if you have you would know how it feels to be climbing like a spider climbing up the wall. My favorite place in the entire world is the Phoenix Rock Gym. It is a place in Arizona full of rock walls that with varying difficulties for you to climb. They also have a special area where you climb not super high without ropes.  It is a great place to start learning to rock climb. I like to climb up walls that are very challenging for me.  Walls where the rocks are spread far apart in all different sizes that are bumpy and that have big triangle shapes sticking out of them. Also, the walls that I talked about that you can climb without ropes are called bouldering. It is for people 14 years old and above there are mats underneath the walls in case people fall while climbing. Some walls are pretty flat that people climb with ropes in the beginning. The first time I started to climb up the rock wall at the Phoeniz Rock Gym, I was scared that I was going to fall.  But after a while, I started to feel more comfortable.  I had so much fun! It was so amazing to challenge myself and take my time climbing. I had so much fun climbing up and bouncing down the rock wall on the way down. By the time I went home I climbed 8 different rock walls. Some of the walls I climbed up twice To sum it all up, the Phoenix Rock Gym is truly an amazing place. I could climb there all day long. It is for all rock climbers whether they are a beginner or a professional. It is my favorite place in the whole entire world.

I was initially hesitant to join the Phoenix Rock Gym, fearing that it might be filled with seasoned climbers who would make newcomers feel out of place. However, my experience was quite the opposite. The staff was incredibly welcoming, and even a regular member took the time to introduce themselves and offer advice. Jacob, in particular, was a standout. His patience and enthusiasm were infectious as he guided our group of new climbers through the basics of rock climbing. He explained techniques, safety tips, and even offered helpful advice for overcoming challenges. His positive attitude and expertise made the learning experience enjoyable and accessible for everyone. If you're looking for a rock climbing gym that values inclusivity and provides a supportive environment for climbers of all levels, I highly recommend the Phoenix Rock Gym.
