About Richmond Olympiad Gymnastics

Richmond Olympiad Gymnastics offers specific, highly-rated coaching (e.g., Coach Cory) and is noted for its convenient location near a recognizable landmark (Jersey Mike's). However, parents must be aware of strict administrative policies regarding enrollment, recurring fees, and class make-ups, which can lead to unexpected costs and frustration.

What parents should know

Summarized from real visitor reviews.

Best for: Parents who prioritize specific, highly-rated coaching over administrative flexibility.Families with very consistent schedules who can commit to all class dates without needing make-ups.Those who are comfortable with manual re-enrollment processes and potential recurring registration fees. Not explicitly mentioned in reviews.

Why families love it

  • Specific coaches, such as 'Coach Cory', are highly praised for their quality of instruction.
  • Convenient location described as 'much closer to Jersey Mike’s' than previous gymnastics venues, suggesting ease of access.
  • Availability of highly competent and well-liked coaches, specifically 'Coach Cory'.
  • Geographically convenient location for some parents (near Jersey Mike's).

Insider tips

  • Be proactive and re-enroll manually for upcoming classes as there is no auto-enrollment, and popular spots fill up quickly.
  • Budget for a recurring $50 registration fee, as it's charged in addition to the $177 class fee, effectively making each class/session $227.
  • Understand that there are no make-up classes; if your child misses a session for any reason (illness, emergency, holiday), you lose the class fee.
  • Thoroughly clarify cancellation and credit transfer policies upfront, especially for unforeseen events, as they may be inflexible.
  • If possible, request a specific highly-rated coach like 'Coach Cory' during enrollment.
  • Be prepared for potential unresponsiveness from staff if you need to discuss policy issues or seek alternative arrangements for pre-paid services.

Good to know before you go

  • If you require flexible class make-up options due to potential emergencies or conflicts.
  • If you prefer automatic re-enrollment to secure class spots.
  • If you are sensitive to recurring registration fees or perceive them as hidden costs.
  • If you anticipate needing flexible credit or refund policies for class cancellations due to unforeseen circumstances (e.g., health concerns, changing family obligations).
  • If you value highly responsive customer service for policy discussions or problem resolution.
Value
Classes cost $177, but a recurring $50 registration fee brings the effective cost to $227 per class/session. This value is significantly diminished by the no make-up class policy, meaning a single missed session results in a full loss of the $177 fee. Additionally, inflexible credit policies for cancelled classes (e.g., due to COVID) may lead to loss of pre-paid funds if the limited re-enrollment options don't suit the family's schedule.
Accessibility
No accommodations for special needs or accessibility features mentioned in reviews.

"You don't get auto enrolled into the next class you have to resign up and its first come first server. So you risk losing the date and time you like. They also keep charging $50 registration fees, on top of a $177 class. So classes are really $227. Also they will not let your child make up a class. So if you have an emergency or if your class falls on say Halloween, you're out the price of a class."

"I 100% disagree with ROG response to handling upfront money that I have paid for a class that was cancelled due to COVID. The have only given families ONE option: enroll from June 8 – July 25th. No credits will overflow into the fall schedules. ROG has not responded to my emails or messages asking to discuss this matter. I’m not asking for a refund; I don’t feel comfortable sending my child until there’s more certainty. As a family, we had other obligations this summer; we only enroll our kids in extracurriculars during the school year. This is the way my family budget is set. I understand not"
