💡Pro Tips from Reviews

  • Be aware that the playground surface is wood chips, which might influence footwear choices.
  • Consider bringing a blanket to relax comfortably in the ample shade provided by the trees.
  • The park is 'tucked back in a lil neighborhood,' so pay attention to navigation to find it easily.

Things to Consider

  • The playground surface is wood chips, which some parents may not prefer.
  • The circular walking path is noted to have 'some room for improvement' in its condition.
  • There is a possibility of encountering non-poisonous wildlife, as one reviewer saw a black racer snake.

Price & Value

Entry to Rockwood Park is assumed to be free as a public park, offering excellent value given the updated equipment, significant shade, and well-maintained amenities without any stated cost.

Accessibility & Special Needs

  • No specific accessibility accommodations are mentioned in the reviews. The wood chip playground surfacing might present challenges for some mobility aids.

🍎Food & Drink Policy

  • Not explicitly mentioned in reviews. As a public park, bringing outside food and drinks is generally permitted and recommended for a full day out.

I wish I’d taken more pictures to be able to post here. They’ve gotten new equipment for the park and we had such a great time! There are fun swings that let two people swing at once, a bigger and smaller playground set, and a teeter totter. The only thing we don’t love is the wood chip covering, but we’ll for sure go back. The trees so provide some shade but we were there on a cloudy day so I can’t attest to how sunny it’d be.

Tucked back in a lil neighborhood, I loved relaxing at this park on a blanket in the shade provided by the beautiful trees. Nice people walking their dogs. Saw a non-poisonous, black racer snake.

Our favorite little park in Durham. The playground is in great shape and there's plenty of shade. The circular walk has some room for improvement, but it's still a perfect place to bring young ones and their wheels.
