3 months agoIt’s definitely not “you get what you pay for” at $80 a month for a single guy in his twenties I’m just not impressed. I will say this, the staff is very kind. They always greet me and try to make me feel welcome. Here’s the stuff I can’t rationalize paying $80 a month for. A dirty steam room, a dirty sauna, gross out dated locker rooms. Out dated work out areas. Small stretching space with constricting walls everywhere. NO TOWELS?!?!? Why even have a pool with no towels 😂. Like I get it this is not life time but for $80 a month and being a Homewood resident it’s just not great. You can tell the Y is satisfied and has no vision to remodel or make this space great. I signed up because I have a tri-athalon in May and I needed the pool but I will probably be cancelling after because it’s just not a nice gym. Weight machines aren’t even bolted to the floor, that is so dangerous. They have a great location and a great building but just using it horribly….do better YMCA

2 years agoWell maintained, friendly staff, large "have it all" gym areas, great changing room, steam & sauna rooms. Great outdoor pool and indoor pool. Indoor had comfortable temperature setting for year arround swimming! Outdoor is a perfect splash for kids and young teens to slash and do laps. Gym machines, classes and swimming laps - all great way to work out! The best to me is to have a sauna&/or steam time after all! It is amazing steps to finish sport activities and taking care of worked hard muscles..and mood too. Advize to visit...

a year agoCustomer Service is terrible! Showers 🚿 are nasty! Staff never speak when entering and exiting this gym. I have a strong feeling poor CS is due to my race, because two seconds after entering this gym, a Caucasian woman entered, and front desk staff spoke to her immediately. I physically watched this the whole time while/before entering the women’s restroom. 12/18/23 @8:40am

a year agoI started going to the Shades Valley Y following my marriage in 2006. The Shades Valley Y is a great place for families. My children have grown up there from the daycare through their conditioning training for their high school sports. The staff is always friendly and welcoming and have become our extended family. So if you’re looking for a healthy outlet for yourself or your family you should definitely check it out.

2 years agoThe Y is great! I like the more open atmosphere. The people here are very friendly. Not too much equipment but exactly what I need. Staff are very welcoming. My daughter loves the outdoor pool and splash pad. I like swimming laps inside.
