a month agoWalked in planning to browse for new ski gear. Saw the 40% off sale and figured may as well bite the bullet and go all in! The deals are incredible and everything very high quality. Super friendly and helpful staff. The guy in the ski boot fitting area was fantastic, very patient and knowledgeable. Lucky to have this store in the area!

3 weeks agoA really large selection of sports gear. I visited to get sneakers for my wife and myself. Danielle was very helpful. We are very happy with our purchase. If you are one of those who would like to see and try on something before you actually buy it, this is a great place to do it. Beats online anytime!

a week agoJason in the bike shop is a real MVP. I had a creak coming from my bottom bracket (or so I thought). I brought it in to Jason at the bike shop and he asked some questions, looked at the bike, and very quickly diagnosed that it was not the bottom bracket but just a not fully tightened rear thru axle. He fixed that and I was on my way, and the whole time he was friendly and non-judgy.

a month agoSports Basement qualifies as a San Francisco institution, in my mind. Everyone is patient, and the staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely always looking out for you. Even the other customers are chill as hell. The rates for season rentals are so reasonable that this is the best place to get into snow sports, hands down. We are all lucky to have Sports Basement getting us up on the mountain every year.

2 months agoUpdate: Staff called to apologize. Pretty cool to see that level of personal care. Pretty confident it was a one off issue and certainly will give it another shot. Great selection and friendly staff, but very inefficient. Rented a bike (with a reservation) and when I went to pick it up, there was one couple in front of me renting skis. It took more than 30 minutes to do their rental and there were about 10 people behind me. A few other employees walked by and seemed to have free time but didn't help. When we finally got our bikes, we had to go to the repair shop for a check, which took another 15 min and could have been done when the bike was returned. All in all, almost an hour to pick up a bike when I was second in line felt...frustrating.
