A clean, medium-sized concert venue in a safe location featuring great sound quality, quick security, and plenty of food and bar stations, though the experience varies greatly depending on crowd size and ticket type.
What parents should know
Summarized from real visitor reviews.
Best for: Families with older teens wanting to see their favorite music artists in a clean, safe-feeling environmentTeens and young adults attending concerts, though parental guidance is recommended for crowded GA floor shows
Why families love it
- Excellent sound quality and clean facilities throughout the venue
- Quick and highly organized ticket check and security process
- Attentive barricade staff who hand out plenty of water to the crowd during hot shows
- Abundant bar and food areas keeping lines short and moving quickly
- Balcony VIP area which offers a less crowded, more comfortable viewing experience
- Spacious layout with well-decorated interiors
Insider tips
- For highly popular artists, purchase a seated or balcony ticket instead of GA to ensure you can actually see the stage and avoid being jostled
- Do not rely on being able to upgrade to VIP or balcony seats at the venue, as staff may refuse upgrades even if seats are empty
- Be prepared for strict security and bag checks at the entrance
Good to know before you go
- General Admission floor tickets for highly popular, sold-out shows if you are bringing shorter children or dislike intense crowds
- General Admission (GA) floor can get extremely oversold and packed like sardines, severely blocking visibility for shorter guests
- Inflexible staff regarding last-minute ticket upgrades to VIP or balcony sections
- Inconsistent enforcement of rules, such as staff telling balcony guests they cannot stand up during the show
- Occasional rude behavior from security staff during bag checks
- Crowds
- Can range from very comfortable to extremely packed and 'sardine-esque' depending on the popularity of the performing artist
- Value
- VIP and balcony tickets are worth the extra cost for popular shows to avoid the overcrowded floor, but must be purchased in advance as on-site upgrades are generally not permitted.
- Food
- Multiple bars and food areas are available inside the venue
- Accessibility
- Balcony access is restricted and requires a specific wristband
- Safety
- Thorough bag checks and organized security lines
What parents say
"I’ve been here twice (LCD Soundsystem. And Franz Ferdinand.) Both shows were great. I was in the balcony VIP for one and floor standing area for the other. Sound is good. Venue is clean. Ticket check / security process was organized and quick. Spacious venue with a lot of bars and food areas. Had a great time."

"Nice medium sized venue for concerts. While it may not be my favorite there’s no reason this place doesn’t deserve 5 stars. It’s in a great location where I’ve always felt safe. Can’t wait to be back for another show!"

"I have been to the Fillmore twice - once in 2023 to see childhood faves, Aly & Aj, and last week to see Finneas. The first visit was fantastic as an appropriate amount of tickets were sold in both GA and seated areas. It was so enjoyable that I thought seeing Finneas there would be similar. Instead, the event was oversold and I missed the majority of the show visually from my GA spot. The balcony was practically empty and seats were open behind the floor, yet the staff was not open to ticket upgrades. I was willing to purchase VIP to avoid being jostled around like so many of us were in the sa"
