Urban Axes offers an unexpectedly fun and engaging axe-throwing experience, distinguished by exceptionally friendly, welcoming, and expert staff who make first-timers feel comfortable and ensure everyone has a great time. What parents should know

Summarized from real visitor reviews.

Best for: Adult groups (as described in reviews for bachelor parties or friends outings).First-time axe throwers, due to the excellent coaching provided.Families with older children or teenagers (if age restrictions permit and specific kid-friendly modifications are in place) who enjoy active challenges and supervised, unique experiences.Based solely on these adult-centric reviews, it is not possible to definitively assess suitability for specific children's age groups. Axe throwing typically has minimum age requirements (often 10+, 12+, or 16+ depending on local regulations and venue policy). Parents must verify the venue's specific age restrictions and inquire whether the 'New Year's Eve Kids Activities' event includes modifications or a curriculum designed for younger participants beyond general adult supervision.

Why families love it

  • Staff are 'extremely friendly and welcoming,' 'easy to hang out with,' and genuinely enthusiastic, making the experience enjoyable.
  • Expert coaching, even for first-time throwers, is provided by guides like Dingo and Bradley, who are helpful, engaging, and patient.
  • The facility maintains a 'comfortable environment' with 'plenty of bathrooms,' indicating a well-kept space.
  • Safety is a priority, with staff confirming they 'follow all the required safety guidelines' and provide clear instructions on 'how to axe'.
  • The overall 'energy within the entire facility was so amazingly delightful,' creating a positive atmosphere.
  • Exceptional, friendly, and engaging coaches/staff who ensure a fun experience for all skill levels.

Insider tips

  • Parents should contact Urban Axes directly to confirm specific age requirements for the 'New Year's Eve Kids Activities' event and inquire about any child-specific programming, coaching, or safety protocols.
  • Be prepared for an active and interactive experience led by a coach; this is not a free-play environment.
  • If attending with children, confirm whether the kids' event is held in a separate area from general adult axe-throwing lanes, especially concerning alcohol service.
  • Consider the potential cost for families, as one reviewer indicated it's not an activity they could afford frequently.

Good to know before you go

  • Bringing very young children or toddlers without explicit confirmation from the venue that child-specific facilities or supervised activities are available for that age group.
  • Expecting a typical 'kids play place' with soft play or unstructured activities; this is a guided, skill-based activity.
  • Making assumptions about child-friendliness based on the 'Kids Activities' title without verifying specific details tailored for children, as the reviews describe an adult experience.
  • The provided reviews are exclusively from adults (e.g., bachelor party, friends outings) and offer no specific insights into provisions, facilities, or experiences tailored for children or 'Kids Activities.' Parents will need to directly inquire about age restrictions, child-specific safety measures, modified axes/throwing areas for kids, or dedicated coaching for younger age groups.
  • Alcohol (local beers) is served, and it's unclear if the 'New Year's Eve Kids Activities' event would be held in a separate, alcohol-free zone, or if alcohol service would be limited during that time.

The venue serves 'a great selection of local beers and liquid death water.' No information is provided regarding outside food policies, specific food options for children, or any nut-free policies. "Went here for a friend's bachelor party and had a great time. The staff were easy to hang out with and helpful. It felt like they were having as good a time as we were. I can't afford to go here very often but I'd say it was worth the price of admission for the time I did go."

"As soon as we arrived we were greeted by 2 very friendly people, they checked us in quickly and we started right away. Dingo was our guide. He was wonderful! Giving us each the info on how to axe, answering all of our questions and his expertise was very helpful! He kept it fun and engaging. He was super friendly, helpful and interested in watching us as we took our turns. I was not expecting to have so much fun! Thank you Dingo and hope you had a winning tonight at the competition! So appreciated you! Sherry, Ralph, Sara, Sam, Stephanie & Nathan I"
