5 months agoThis beautiful park was such a surprise. The park district has lovingly restored many spectacular prairie flowers, which can be seen virtually everywhere. Nice hiking trails and a lovely pond. Lots of birds, ducks, geese and turtles. Added plus of being right next to Rosehill Cemetery, which is also a favorite place. You have to park along Western Avenue, which can be dicey, depending on the size of your car, or deal with a very long walk to get to the entrance.

8 months agoFirst time visiting this place. It’s beautiful, available seating through out the preserve to enjoy the scenery and the wildlife. As for any place in Chicago please be aware of your surroundings as there at times people sleeping in the Nature playground. I would definitely be returning. So glad I came across this place.

6 months agoI love to run in this park once a week and it has never been crowded. A nice, relaxing atmosphere with one main trail and a few side trails where you feel like you’ve left the city. I’ve seen some interesting birds and deer there as well.

7 months agoA great little urban natural oasis! Situated between Rosehill Cemetery & Western Avenue, the West Ridge Nature Park provides a welcomed opportunity or commune with nature. Accessible paths, playground, pond, and wildlife can all be found here. Recommended!

10 months agoA gem hidden in plain sight. Amazing how nature can thrive next to a busy Chicago street. Calm and quiet just steps from a bustling loud arterial street. The pond attracts many different bird species. Kids love the nature play space.
