💡Pro Tips from Reviews
- →To avoid the evening cruising activity and potential crowds, plan your visit for daylight hours, especially on Friday and Saturday.
- →Be prepared for men's restroom stalls without doors if privacy is a concern for older boys or adult males in your party.
- →If planning a fishing trip, be aware that the ponds may not yield significant catches due to lotus growth.
- →Bring your pets, as the park is very pet-friendly and occasionally hosts pet-related events like the SPCA Doggy Dash (check local event calendars for specific dates).
- →Utilize the BBQ facilities for a family meal; bring your own grilling supplies.
Things to Consider
- ⚠Men's restroom stalls reportedly lack doors, which can be a privacy concern for parents and older children.
- ⚠Cruising activity occurs in the evenings, particularly after nightfall on Friday and Saturday nights, centered around the WPA rock garden, which may impact comfort for some families.
- ⚠Fishing quality in the ponds, especially one near the zoo, has declined due to lotus growth, so it's not ideal for a dedicated fishing trip.
Price & Value
The park grounds itself appear to be free to enter, offering high value with vast green spaces, playgrounds, and nature observation. Specific attractions within the park like Fairytale Town and the Sacramento Zoo would incur separate admission fees (not detailed in reviews). The availability of free activities combined with optional paid attractions provides flexible value.

4 months agoA very large park with so much to do. Rock gardens are awesome, greenery is awesome there. Sad to see how many trees have gotten damaged in storms we've had lately but VERY impressed with how quickly maintenance staff had been on top of the clean up. They take really good care of this wonderful landmark of Sacramento. Restrooms are kept above average as far as cleanliness but one gripe I have is that there are no doors on the stalls in the men's room. When using a stall in a men's room it definitely warrants the comfort of having a door for everyone's benefit, in my opinion. The Land Park Golf course and the Zoo are also in the park. Specifically for the little ones, there is also Fairytale Town here and duck ponds and plenty of green spaces to run around! There is definitely something to do for people of any age and very pet friendly as well! There is definitely a large amount of cruising that happens here in the evening by people contained to their cars for the most part and centered around the WPA rock garden. It can get fairly busy after nightfall, especially on Friday and Saturday nights. Being one of the oldest, most popular and largest parks in the city, it is easy to see why this park is a definite landmark for the city of Sacramento!

11 months agoIt's a very nice place for a family. There is a small pond for turtles and ducks. In front of the lake there are so many different plants, some rare. This place is amazing, you can meet squirrels, butterflies, hummingbirds. So I recommend this place, you can relax with the whole family.

2 months agoThe park is great, large, peaceful, plenty of space to celebrate any occasion. Parking is first come first serve basis. Pond use to be great for fishing but not as much anymore. Now they have lotus growing in one of the pond near the zoo.
