a month agoThe Walkway Nature Walk in New Orleans East offers a peaceful and immersive experience for nature lovers and those looking for a calm escape from the urban hustle. Located in a relatively quiet part of the city, this nature walk offers a well-maintained trail that winds through lush wetlands and offers views of local flora and fauna. The path is relatively flat, making it suitable for people of all ages and fitness levels. Along the trail, visitors can enjoy the calming sounds of birds chirping and the rustling of trees. The walk offers a great opportunity for birdwatching, and during the right seasons, the area is home to a variety of migratory birds. What sets this nature walk apart is its accessibility and peaceful environment. The boardwalk is an excellent feature, allowing you to get up close to the wetlands without disturbing the natural habitat. It’s a great spot for a relaxing stroll, meditation, or a casual jog. While it’s not a large park, the Walkway Nature Walk offers a valuable escape, especially for those who want to enjoy the outdoors in a less crowded setting. It’s an ideal location for locals or tourists seeking a quick break in nature. However, one downside is that it can sometimes feel a bit isolated, and there aren’t many amenities close by. If you’re looking for a more social experience or facilities like restrooms or a café, this might not be the ideal destination. Overall, the Walkway Nature Walk is a hidden gem for nature enthusiasts and those wanting a quiet, reflective outdoor experience. Whether you’re looking for a peaceful stroll or a bit of birdwatching, this spot is definitely worth a visit.

4 months agoNeat swamp/marsh area to check out. Pretty clean except for the few idiots who throw their water bottles down. We were hoping to see some gators but only saw one raccoon and a few birds. I would highly recommend this place if you're looking for a peaceful place to walk in nature.

3 months agoA short, easy, and dog friendly trail to appreciate nature! Boardwalk in the marsh made birdwatching easy. Several species of ducks, warblers, and songbirds. There were a few picnic tables that you could bring a lunch, and enjoy being outdoors. Plenty of parking, and there are some simple bathrooms.

6 months agoJust a beautiful walk in the swamp. There are a few soft spots on the boardwalk and you hear a lot of traffic sounds in certain parts, but it is well worth it. It did get hot and shade became difficult to find in the middle of the day

10 months agoWonderful nature trail through the wetlands. Amazing biodiversity! No alligators visible when I was there, but I saw butterflies, turtles, rabbits, and lots of interesting birds. I heard some wild boars rooting around in the brush, but I couldn’t really see them. If you’re here in the summer, I recommend going early in the morning to beat the heat.
