2 months agoAbsolutely free (donations accepted) and full of great art! So much to see, it easily will take more visits. The staff was kind and welcoming. The grand kids really enjoyed the smart board and all the displays. Highly recommend if you enjoy art or just want something new to do! We were at children's hospital and took advantage of being in Birmingham.

a month ago4.7 stars I will say that I was pleasantly surprised at the Birmingham Museum of Art. Decent sized Museum with a good collection of European, Asian, and African art and artifacts, to name a few, along with a wonderful exhibit of Black sculpture, John Rhoden. This made my day seeing his works and reading about his history. Many pieces of art highlight a more diverse background than I am accustomed to seeing, which usually are more European in nature, but I praise the efforts!! All this for free! (Donations accepted)

4 months agoThis art museum is free to the public, which I think is a fantastic facility and service. They have free parking for museum attendees. The art museum has three floors of exhibits, some of which are outdoors. They also have an exhibit where you can touch replicas of some of the art pieces. They have a lot of volunteers that are able to tell you about the exhibits, and they all were super nice. They have a lot of different pieces from a lot of different places, so I thought it was really cool to be able to see some of them. There is one Claude Monet piece which was cool to see as well. The gift shop had a variety of items, and they also had a cafe but we did not stop by to see what their offerings were. We spent about an hour and a half here, but you could easily spend more (or less) time here.

4 months agoThis is a great art museum! I can’t believe it’s free. The adjacent free parking lot is so convenient, and we even had the opportunity to join a tour going over one of the exhibits. The museum is really big, with a large variety of art. We ended up spending two and a half hours here and didn’t even make it through all the galleries! There are even a few areas with things to do for kids. I’d definitely come back again another time!

a month agoRecently came to see the museum. I am from Pennsylvania and I came here for some sight seeing since it is free to enter. This is a nice activity if you are looking for something to do not want to pay out of pocket but also curious about what Alabama had to offer :) I recommend 10/10! Have fun!
