3 months agoAvoid this theater if you care about image quality. There was a GIANT dirt spot on the screen (see photo). Not sure if I need to say more, but I don’t understand how you can operate a cinema with a dirty screen. On top of that, the projection was misaligned, the contrast was awful, the shadows had a very noticeable magenta tint, and the whole image was blurry. Honestly, it was one of the worst projections I’ve seen. The sound and staff were fine, but none of that matters if the movie looks this bad. It’s ridiculous to pay theater prices for such a subpar experience.

6 months agoGood theater to grab a quick movie after running errands in St Matthews. Tinseltown is my main Cinemark, but I’ll stop by if I’m nearby on a Tuesday, or something I want to see isn’t playing elsewhere. Food court is close, so easy to sneak in some to-go food, but beware: some of the places don’t have takeout containers! I learned the hard way when I got to-go hummus with my falafel -.- Overall, just an okay location imo. Expected better from such a busy area, tbh. I’d even say the Preston crossing location has nicer seats, and a wider selection of concessions. Again, I am partial to tinsel though, it’s just cozier. Love the popcorn buckets here, wish they made more lowkey tin ones! Don’t care for the big plastic tubs. Last movie I saw here was transformers one (A MUST SEE!), and it was a great time. Cinemark is my favorite chain theater in Louisville (and I’ve been to them all!). Despite it’s flaws, 100% come here vs. AMC any day !

5 months agoWalked in to find only 2 lines for drinks But the lines went all the way to the door. There were plenty of workers who were just hanging out behind the counter. At least 8 were working. The seats were comfortable, but they lacked the table that you find at just about every other theater these days. Other than that. The theater was clean, the movie picture was great, and the surround sound audio system sounded flawless.

a month agoReview for Cinemark St. Matthews 🛑Honestly you better staying at home ordering a movie online and cooking your own food and buying whatever snack she wants to it’ll come out cheaper and it’ll be more Comfortable.🛑 The theater was decent, but the food was overpriced and terrible. My slushy wasn’t even frozen, the mozzarella sticks were undercooked, and the chicken tenders weren’t cooked properly either. I don’t think they even have a deep fryer—everything just seems warmed up, and it’s disgusting. I was told the pizza was super greasy too. Eat before you come or just grab snacks—don’t waste your money on the hot food. The Captain America movie was good though! Ok so today is the next day and I tried eat my flaming hot chips that cost like 5.95 and they are stale, they expire in less than 2 months. So check the expiration date dates on your stuff too especially with how high everything is.

4 months agoI love movies. I have saved all of my movie tickets from when I first started seeing them on my own. I think my first saved ticket goes back to at least 2001. Movie theaters are pretty timeless, the experience has been modified to include some more snacks since then, and reclining seats. You have to pick your seat now when you buy the ticket, and you can order them online. The Cinemark theaters are a great option in town. St Matthews is my favorite given the location. You can order your tickets in person or online. They have perfect food options at the food court. The theater is always clean and the staff kind. The seats are comfortable. Your movie options are plentiful from the latest releases to even more elusive shows like seeing the MetOpera live from New York City. This is a movie theater that will give you an ideal movie experience.
