a week agoHere’s one of my favorite natural areas within Los Angeles and among the more forest like of Griffith Park! Who would’ve thought to discover such an urban wilderness, minutes from the hustle and bustle of LA? Just off of Los Feliz Boulevard by the northernmost end of Western Avenue, this part of Griffith Park is like a park of it’s own! Fern Dell Drive continues north as the main road for instant access into the woods here. Parking along Fern Dell Drive is possible where permitted and where several small trails meander beside this rustic corridor, flanked by upscale residential neighborhoods. There’s small clearings with concrete picnic tables and trash containers. A ranger station is near the bottom of the hill. Parking is also available in lots beyond the station.

a year agoGreat find yesterday on line! Trail has so many level options from beginner to a bit more challenging. Some parts are heavily shaded other routes 🌞. Beautiful plants, some wildlife and many happy doggies on walks with their persons. Water running splendor. Very peaceful. I highly recommend for short to long ventures. Seems like multiple experiences in one location. On hot days go super early.

a year agoI did and im prompt to visit this morning after seeing it suggested for a hiking trail online. It is a wonderful location that has many versatile trails. In different directions at different levels of hiking or walking. Water Little ponds and falls run through the Walking trail and is a wonderful addition to the ombiance. Said it was a 2 and a 1/2 mile loop but I only did 40 minutes.. Its dog friendly people friendly baby friendly and just a wonderful experience of nature.

8 months agoThis place is so magical!! There’s a babbling brook on either side of the trail. There’s lots of benches to sit and relax on. I love how the trail leads all the way up to the Observatory. I’ll definitely be coming back throughout the summer.

6 years agoReally lovely park and trail. Well maintained area and there's also a playpark for the children. It's quite steep in places and there's limited shadow so you need to be aware of this if walking/ running up. I'd also recommend that you bring a bottle as although there are water stops, they're not frequent. Really lovely way to spend an afternoon
