Detailed Insights

Get Out Adventures offers unique and flexible kayaking experiences, including pet-friendly 'Doggie Paddle' adventures, tranquil 'Twilight Paddles' with post-event s'mores, and special benefits for veterans (free entry, season passes). They stand out for their high-quality equipment (sit-in, sit-on-top kayaks, paddleboards), consistently friendly and helpful staff, and a commitment to customer flexibility, making it an ideal choice for families seeking a memorable outdoor water activity that also supports a good cause.

  • Exceptionally friendly and helpful staff who assist with launch, provide directions, and even facilitate last-minute additions to reservations (e.g., adding a friend mid-session).
  • High-quality and diverse equipment including sit-in, sit-on-top kayaks, and paddle boards.
  • Twilight Paddle session includes a guide on the water and a welcome back to a fire pit with s'mores.
  • Dedicated 'Doggie Paddle' allowing pets, with an option to hose off your dog post-trip.
  • Opportunities for wildlife viewing, including eagles, birds, and turtles.
  • Free entry for veterans and an 'amazing deal' on season passes.
  • Funds generated by the business go to a great cause.

Standout Features

  • Flexible booking and rescheduling policy handled efficiently via email.
  • On-water guide support for specific sessions (e.g., Twilight Paddle) ensuring safety and assistance.
  • Unique post-paddle amenity: fire pit with s'mores for select evening events.
  • Pet-friendly options and facilities for cleaning pets post-activity.
  • Availability of various types of high-quality watercraft (sit-in, sit-on-top kayaks, paddle boards).

Perfect For

Suitable for school-aged children (likely 8+) and teens who are confident in a kayak, especially for unguided trips or those with pets. Younger children would require strong adult supervision and a shared kayak.
Guided sessions (like the Twilight Paddle mentioned with an on-water guide) may accommodate a wider range of confident school-aged children with parental supervision.
The availability of different craft (sit-in, sit-on-top, paddleboards) caters to varying skill levels and preferences among family members.

Ideal For

Families with school-aged children or teens interested in kayaking and nature.
Pet-owning families looking for a unique outdoor adventure with their dog.
Veterans and their families seeking outdoor recreational opportunities with special benefits.
Families looking for a peaceful and relaxing evening activity (e.g., Twilight Paddle with s'mores).
Parents seeking flexible and accommodating outdoor activity providers.
Nature enthusiasts hoping to spot local wildlife like eagles and turtles.

💡Pro Tips from Reviews

  • Always bring bug spray, especially for evening paddles, as parking and launch areas are grassy and near water.
  • Confirm whether your chosen session is guided or unguided; if unguided and you're not confident, stay close to the staff's view.
  • Take advantage of their flexible booking policy; contact them via email if you need to postpone or modify your reservation.
  • If you are a veteran, inform staff for free entry.
  • Consider the season pass for frequent visits, as it's described as an 'amazing deal'.
  • Inquire about bringing your own boat, as they might offer facilities for private boat use.
  • Keep an eye out for special events, as they are recommended and offer unique experiences.

Things to Consider

  • Some low water areas under bridges may not be clearly marked or communicated beforehand, potentially impacting navigation for less experienced kayakers.
  • Certain experiences, like the 'Doggie Paddle Adventure', are explicitly not guided, requiring participants to be confident kayakers (a concern for parents with less experienced children or those who prefer supervision).
  • Bugs are naturally present in the outdoor, grassy parking, and waterside areas, requiring preparedness.

Price & Value

Offers exceptional value, especially with free entry for veterans and an 'amazing deal' on season passes. The overall experience, including high-quality equipment, friendly staff, and unique offerings like s'mores, justifies the cost for other participants. The money also contributes to a good cause, adding to the perceived value.

Accessibility & Special Needs

  • No specific accessibility accommodations for individuals with special needs were mentioned in the reviews. Staff assistance with launching kayaks suggests a basic level of physical access to the water.

🍎Food & Drink Policy

  • S'mores are provided as part of the 'Twilight Paddle' experience. No other specific food or drink policies were mentioned, implying personal snacks and drinks are likely permitted for non-event paddles.

🚗Parking Info

  • Easy to find location with parking available in a grassy area adjacent to the facilities.

👥Crowd Levels

  • Reviews do not suggest overly crowded conditions. The 'Twilight Paddle' review mentioned arriving after others had gone out, but the guide was with the group and staff accommodated a late arrival and an additional participant seamlessly, implying manageable crowd levels and attentive staff.

🛡️Safety Features

  • Staff members are present on arrival to greet, check in, and assist with getting on and off the water.
  • On-water guides are available for certain sessions (e.g., Twilight Paddle) to monitor participants.
  • Life jackets are provided and staff ensures participants are equipped before launching.
  • Staff provides directions and asks if kayakers have questions before heading out.

When to Avoid

  • If neither you nor your children are confident kayakers, avoid booking unguided experiences without sufficient preparation or a plan to stay very close to staff.
  • Not ideal if you or your children have a strong aversion to bugs, as they are a natural part of the environment here.

I signed up for the Friday Evening Twilight Paddle. This session is a great opportunity to get out and enjoy an evening with a date, with friends, or solo! You head out onto the water in the evening and head back in as the sun is setting. You are welcomed back to a nice fire pit with s’mores. It is easy to sign up for any of their packages online. The location is easy to find. I definitely recommend that you bring bug spray as you are outdoors and you park in a grassy area and are close to water so bugs are naturally going to happen. On arrival, there are team members there to greet you. For my session, there was a tent set up to check in. I was stood up on a date so I arrived just a little bit after the other participants had gone out. The team member welcomed me, asked for my name, and when she asked if the other person on my reservation was coming, I let her know the situation and she was kind about it and walked me down to the boat launch to get me set up to head out on my own. She and the other team member helped me get out on the water. I am not new to kayaking but they did ask if I had any questions and gave me directions as to where I could go. I ended up finding the rest of the participants so I just kind of paddled around with them. There is a guide from the company out on the water paddling near the group in case you need anything. One of my close friends who lives nearby called me while I was out there and I asked the guide if it was too late to have her come join since I had a spot that was left open. She said absolutely have her come and she would radio in. I headed back for the boat launch to meet my friend. When I got there, the team had a kayak and paddle ready to go, when my friend arrived, they were ready with the safety waiver and quickly escorted her to grab a life jacket and hope into the kayak. The entire team I met with was friendly and helpful. I had emailed in about postponing my reservation when my date stood me up prior to deciding to do it on my own and then with my friend. The team was quick to respond to my email and offer to let me use it another time. Overall I highly recommend the place and I am already looking into the next time I can rent from them. I believe they also offer use of their facilities if you have your own boat. The money also goes to a great cause!

Another year, another Doggie Paddle Adventure! My pup and I love spending time on the water. There were some low water areas under the bridge I would've liked to know about before heading that way, but the water was just right. We found a spot along the lake shore to pull up and play. If you are not a confident kayaker (which I don't consider myself one), please note this is not a guided experience. It's you, your pet and the kayak. You don't have to adventure too far and can stay close by where the staff can see you. Vicky was very kind at the end of our trip and let me hose off my pup and talked about memberships. We will be coming back!

First time here and certainly won't be the last. They have sit in, sit on top and paddle boards for rent. Their equipment is high quality unlike other kayak rentals that I have been to. The staff is very friendly, and helpful. There are also eagles in the area caught one hanging out in the tree on our way back to the livery. Do yourself a favor and check Get Out Adventures Out.
