3 weeks agoMy husband and I found this magical place by accident: we were staying in Niagara Falls (his Zen space) during spring break, and while I was driving a friend of ours home one morning I noticed these beautiful horses 🐴 on carrousel poles along Oliver Street. My friend Anthony told me that there was a museum with a vintage carrousel at the end of the street, but it was closed for the winter season. So before we left Niagara Falls, my husband Joe and I went for a drive along Oliver Street and we stopped to take a picture in front of each of the horses. When we got to the end of the street, we noticed one of the doors to the museum was open and the lights were on. By pure luck, we had arrived just as the museum was about to reopen for the spring. Not only was the museum beautiful, but it fulfilled one of my childhood dreams of going to an old-fashioned amusement parks from the late 1800s 🎡. The best part, by far, was the wonderful staff: Miss Shirley welcomed us into the museum, Mr Ian took us on an intriguing tour of the initial factory floor, Miss Carla and Miss Julie were especially kind and hospitable as they took us on a tour of the carrousels, and Mr Dan was very helpful as he operated the carrousel for us and for our service dog 🐕🦺. We bought a beautiful gold amethyst carrousel horse ornament for our Christmas tree 🎄, and we are already looking forward to coming back again and again.

4 months agoVisiting the Herschell Carrousel Factory Museum was an incredible experience! As a local, it's important to be a tourist in your own town, and this gem did not disappoint. Admission includes two ride tokens, which can be used at either of the beautifully restored carousels. Brant gave me a guided tour, demonstrating several historic Wurlitzer band organs and enhancing my experience with his knowledge and enthusiasm. The museum is rich in history and offers a delightful glimpse into the past. They also offer wood carving classes. It's a must-visit for anyone looking to enjoy a fun and educational outing. Highly recommend for both locals and visitors!

7 months agoThis was a great museum in the former carousel factory. Seeing how the horses were carved and then tested was very interesting. Of course they had a carousel you can ride plus other rides for younger kids (my son getting too big now). Highly recommend a stop if in the Buffalo / Niagara Falls area.

8 months agoQuiet museum that is ready for guests. Learning about the history of the Carrousel was fascinating. There were 2 carousels to ride part of the museum. There are 4 more rides for a price you can ride as well. My son loved seeing all the gears in motion throughout the museum. I recommend with kids
