5 months agoMy mom and I went to several stores seeking a warm, down jacket for my Christmas gift. Once we got to REI, we found great options for jackets. We were hesitant about the price, so we asked David at the cash register if it would go on sale for Black Friday. After informing us that REI is closed on Black Friday, Ellie, the other worker at the registers, informed us that the reason is in order to promote going out into the outdoors. David asked what we were celebrating, and upon informing him it was for a Christmas gift, he and his supervisor, Mimi, took care of us and made us feel better about the purchase. It's a wonderful Patagonia jacket and I look forward to future winter adventures in it!

a month ago3.28.25 6-7pm actual visit Initially I thought it was just my wife and I who had a bad experience yesterday, specifically with customer service. None. I really try to be fair in my reviews as I own a small business but there was 0. Went in to shop for new bicycles. They only had 3 brands. Cannondale, CoOp never heard of, and salsa never heard of. I'm a very observant person. There was a young guy testing repaired bikes that I initiated conversation with went no where. There was a young girl sitting at the counter in front of the repair shop. There was a guy in the repair shop. There was a guy following me around ( at a distance/never engaged me) in a green shirt that I thought was a customer but realized he was an employee ( when I came out of the bathroom, he magically appeared behind me). There was a plus size ( politely) girl with a headset on. Another young girl with a headset on and at least 2 other employees at the front registers. That being said we where in there a solid 15-25mins. No assistance. 0

3 months agoWe had a wonderful experience at REI San Antonio today! We were shopping for snow gear, particularly snow boots for our little one, and despite the limited inventory, MJ went above and beyond to help us. Their kindness, patience, and expertise made the process so much easier. It’s rare to find such attentive and thoughtful service, and we’re so grateful for the assistance we received. Thank you MJ, and REI, for helping us get ready for our trip!

2 months agoFound the perfect boots for me after going through about 10 pairs of shoes and Drew was so nice and helpful the entire time. I'm very excited to try break in my new shoes at work :) Edit: After trying the shoes out for a month, I found they weren't the ones for me :( I'm very happy I was able to return them with a full refund :) I look forward to searching for a new pair next time I'm free

a year agoWhy wouldn't you love REI if you love the outdoors?! Everything from backpacking, to kayaking, cycling, and running gets a large share of the floor space. There's a permanent sale section which is a newer addition after COVID. There are also regularly classes on various outdoor topics. Be sure to sign up for membership to share in the discounts! This is your best option if you want a specific selection of top quality packs, bags, and camping. You'll find a bigger selection of mid range options elsewhere.
