a month agoThis is a small national park visitor center that tells about Roger Williams, a pilgrim who stood strong for religious freedom in the 1600’s and influenced our country forever. The visitor center is a few blocks from the memorial statue, giving a good walk thru some kinda step streets, or you could drive to it. The statue is huge, overlooking the city, and you can’t get a really good front facing look at it unless you go to the street below and look up. The walk gave us the opportunity to see it from both angles. There’s also a very nice park by the visitors center. I’m very grateful for Roger Williams bringing true freedom of religion to this country!

5 months agoRoger Williams National Memorial is a very nice 4.5 acre park located in the city of Providence. The park is a beautiful place to take a walk around in. There are some picturesque gardens and trees that provide a nice retreat from the city. The park also contains the site of a freshwater spring that provided water to the settlers of Rhode Island. The park also a small but neat visitor center that has exhibits about Roger Williams. There is a short five minute film about the life of Roger Williams and the history of Rhode Island that is worth seeing. The visitor center also has a nice gift shop that has park merchandise and books about Roger Williams. All and all, this a great place to stop in Providence. If visiting the city for the first time be sure to stop here. It doesn't take more than a half hour to see and it is within walking distance of many other great sites to see in Providence.

a year agoThis is a lovely spot! Well maintained and accessible, the park is beautiful and and a great spot to walk around or have a bite to eat. You can also see the site of the spring that provided fresh water to the settlers. There is a small visitors center with an extremely nice Park Ranger. It had an exhibit and a short film.

8 months agoA cool park with history about Roger Williams, founder of Rhode Island. It's a very small area but includes an informative visitor center. Don't forget to check out a few other nearby sites like Prospect Terrace up the hill!
