What parents say
"First one on the trails after the snow. Incredibly beautiful and well-maintained. Plenty of parking and standard state park fees. Make sure that you are aware of animals in the area and take proper precautions. I came across juvenile Mountain lion tracks and the remains of a kill (organs and blood). Plenty of benches along the trails and the visitor center looks nice (even though I didn't go in). The lady working the access point for park entrance fees was incredibly kind and gave me a bunch of useful information about park passes and the other state parks as well as the pass through car regi"

"The visitor center has a few informational displays that are very interesting for sure. Bathrooms inside are clean and sufficient. It does provide some warm relief if visiting in the winter. They have some shirts, hats, magnets and other trinkets to remember your trip to this beautiful state park. Canned sodas and some small snacks were available for purchase. I was a bit skeptical on the drive in, but it's worth the small $10.00 fee you have to pay per vehicle to get in. The staff were very nice and while I didn't ask them anything specific, other hikers nearby asked questions and the staff"

"A wonderful state park . With being near c470 it makes it very easy to access. We walked the fountain valley trail and it was a very scenic loop and the path is easy. The path is wide and most dirt . It splits right after the visitor center. The right hand trail has the least steep climb with a long steep section to the mid point at the stone house. The east side trail is least steep The east side trail is shady so in fall and winter will be muddy and snow packed The west trail is open and is sunny . You should miss either of the overlooks they both are very nice with great views"
