a month agoMy favorite place to hike any time of the year! So many beautiful hidden spots and easy access to beach from the cliffs. There’s also multiple parking lots all around the cliffs which makes it really convenient to visit. As a local, this is always one of my favorite places to go to watch sunset and sometimes dolphins too..

a month agoSunset Cliffs has become one of my absolute favorite places to spend time, especially in the evenings. There’s just something magical about the way the sun dips into the horizon over the ocean, casting golden light across the waves and cliffs. It truly lives up to its name. Every time I visit, I’m reminded of how lucky we are to have access to such a breathtaking natural spot. What I love most is how much space there is to spread out. Whether you’re there solo, with a partner, or bringing a few friends or family along, there’s plenty of room to set up a small picnic and enjoy the view. I’ve brought snacks, drinks, and a blanket a few times now, and it’s always such a peaceful experience. The vibe is relaxed, and people are generally respectful of the space and each other. The sound of the waves crashing against the rocks below and the cool ocean breeze only add to the calming atmosphere. It’s the perfect place to unwind after a busy day or to take visitors who want to see the best of what San Diego has to offer. Highly recommend visiting at least once—you won’t regret it!

a month agoThe trails were beautiful! It’s so relaxing to hear the waves while walking and the views are amazing. It’s a bit hilly so it’s a good workout. We got an Uber to get here so I’m not sure about how parking would be. It’s dog friendly and you could find some restrooms around.

3 months agoSunset Cliffs Natural Park is one of San Diego’s most breathtaking coastal treasures, offering sweeping ocean views, rugged sandstone cliffs, and some of the most unforgettable sunsets in California. Spanning 68 acres along the western edge of Point Loma, this protected area showcases the natural, untamed beauty of the Pacific coastline, with its dramatic bluffs, hidden sea caves, and tide pools. The park has a mix of walking trails, scenic overlooks, and steep pathways leading down to secluded beaches, making it a haven for hikers, photographers, surfers, and nature lovers alike. The Ladera Street entrance is a favorite access point, leading to one of the most iconic viewpoints in the park. Here, you can watch waves crash against the cliffs, spot surfers riding the swells below, and even catch glimpses of dolphins and migrating whales in the distance. Unlike some of the more developed coastal areas in San Diego, Sunset Cliffs Natural Park feels raw and untouched, giving visitors a sense of pure, unfiltered connection to the ocean. While the views are stunning, the cliffs can be unstable, and there are no railings, so it’s important to explore with caution. Whether you’re here for a peaceful sunset walk, a photography session, or just to soak in the salty air, this park is one of the most magical places in San Diego. Every visit feels like a reminder of just how powerful and beautiful nature can be. If you want to experience the true essence of San Diego’s coastline, Sunset Cliffs Natural Park is an absolute must.
