a year agoMy husband and I attended the Edgar Allen Poe Speakeasy event. The parking is all around the building. To avoid foot traffic at the front doors and for easy exit turn immediately left upon entering the lot and park on the side of the building. There were photo opportunities inside. One criticism would be that the women's restroom really needed some attention. All of the staff were dressed for the event. They even used Poe styles conversation as they answered your questions. The drinks were pretty good. I liked the Nevermore the best. The waiters that served you're drinks also were the performers. The interpretive decorations were great. Overall we really enjoyed the experience!

a year agoAttended the Edgar Allen Poe Speakeasy event from Fever at the Theater Raleigh Arts Center. A really great event. Loved the interpretations of poems by the talented performers. No bad seats in the theater. The back seats are elevated and they stagger towards the stage like stadium bleachers. Small tables spread about. Easy to hear and see the stage. The drinks served during the performance were yummy! This was my second time attending such an event. I also went to Fevers Haunted Tavern. They are fun and I will be watching for their next event.

a year agoEdgar Allen Poe Speakeasy- the staff was attentive and in character for the entire performance, from walking through the entry ways until dismissal. Cocktails were served efficiently and with care, and tasty!!! " if you don't like the Cat's Meow then you have poor taste. If you do like it, then you have Poe taste." - milk punch/Cat's Meow was one of Poe's favorite drinks. There was not a shortage of Poe dad jokes spoken. The performances of some of Poe's most famous writings gave me goosebumps, each writing performed and interpreted by a different person. Ambiance from the decor and design really set a macabre mood for guests. I had an excellent time!!!

4 months agoWe went to Theatre Raleigh last night for the 1st time to see the Holiday Cabaret with Ellie Barone. Overall we had an excellent time. Easy parking, friendly employees, and they have a nice full bar plus incredible smelling popcorn. Comfortable seating… you can chose from reserved or general admission. Reserved you can chose from short bistro tables for 2 or riser theatre style seating, both were excellent views! Even the general admission seating was couches and chairs that seemed almost as nice just a tad further back from the stage but still a great choice. *every seat in the house is great* They started right on time and the show ran 80 minutes with no intermission which was perfect! We liked that Ellie and “friends” (2 back up singers) started with sultry-bluesy style Christmas songs, then solos of beautiful angelic songs, then jazzy upbeat songs to end. The backup singers were excellent and Ellie’s voice is amazing! We did see online their 2025 season and noted several shows we’d like to attend, so this was our test to see what seats we liked for future, the quality of entertainment, etc as it’s less than 30 minutes drive from our home and we’ve always been very active in the theatre seen is past cities we’ve lived in. Everything was excellent except… we didn’t care for Ellie brought up politics “as a joke” about 6x.” Half of the audience and the country is on Santa’s naughty list, congressional hearings” and more plus we learned she’s has a girlfriend (who leads a Christmas concert letting people know your sexual preference), basically things like that sprinkled in. We came to hear her sing and be entertained with a Christmas concert not hear anyone’s “views”. Regardless we will see another show here to make sure that was a one-off before booking season tickets. The prices are excellent and we hope to have found our new Theatre experience.
