a month agoBeautiful park with beautiful views. The elevator is broken which was actually a blessing. We climbed all 156 steps to get to the top. The history of The Vulcan and Birmingham is laid out quite well in the museum. I miss the years from when I was young that he held a light that represented traffic fatalities in Birmingham. If the Vulcan light was red, there had been a traffic death that day. If it was green there had been none for the day.

a month agoReally nice park and museum. It’s $6 for adults to go to the top of the statue. We visited March 2025 and the elevator was broken. There are 159 steps up I believe. It wasn’t too bad, but definitely difficult. Great views and it was really windy! Nice museum inside telling the history of the statue and Birmingham history. Nice grassy areas and picnic tables.

3 months agoIt was incredibly windy in early January going up there, not too far of a drive from my friend’s place in downtown Birmingham. The museum was small but engaging and informative. However, the lift was not working when going up to the top and it might be difficult for some people with mobility issues- not a big thing for me and it was a good cardio workout honestly. Views are spectacular though!

2 weeks agoBeautiful museum and facility. Worth the small entrance fee. The hiking trail was a bonus! Only criticism is that the elevator is not working. That was tough for the 84 year olds in our group. But, the views were great up there!

The tour guides for the park, museum, visit to the statue, and mine tell stories, explain why Birmingham industrialized so quickly, and more. Views of the city are stunning as well.
