2 months agoA great place to get into the woods and take a short walk. There are two main loops that intersect at the parking lot. I did both of them in about 45 minutes combined. Only took a star away because you are never out of reach of road noise and for part of it houses are visible. But there are good stretches when aside from the background noise you feel like you’re in deep woods. My favorite spot was the rocks along the stream on the Hanging Rock loop.

a week agoBeautiful trail follows the creek. If you cross the road you enter into Duke Forest also along the creek.

6 months agoI had a great little saturday afternoon hike around these trails. I practically had it all to myself. Could do in 30 min but i looped a couple of times. There's a porta potty a 2 min walk from the parking lot. Very clean. I also discovered that you can get into Duke Forest from the same parking lot (though the signs for that park of Duke Forest say it's closed mon-fri). So I hiked that as well which was really nice and secluded for a Sunday morning. I loved that I could walk along the stream the whole way.

11 months agoHollow Rock Nature Park offers 3-4 non-hilly walking trails averaging under 1.0 miles each. Located only 7 minutes from downtown Durham, this park is great for after-work hikes. Free and ♿️ parking available.

8 months agoAn amazing little hidden gem! Very easy hike and good for kids too! It’s dog friendly and there are areas where your pup can easily access water for a quick dip on warm days. Places like this are top on my list for reasons that I adore Durham.
