The animals are well cared for, and the educational displays provide fascinating insights into conservation efforts. Highlights include the Kipp Aquarium, the African Forest, and the orangutan exhibit, which are all beautifully designed. The zoo also offers great amenities, including clean restrooms, plenty of seating areas, and various food options. It’s evident that a lot of effort goes into maintaining the grounds, as everything is clean and well-kept.

a week agoLove this zoo, spent the whole day there. Seemed well staff and the animals are well taken care of. The enclosures seemed to be a decent size and almost saw all the animals that day. They have an extensive snake 🐍 exhibit, and Kirby was adorable. If I lived there I would go monthly.

2 weeks agoThe Houston Zoo is definitely one of the better ones. Sure, the entry fee is expensive, as is the food and drink.Helps when you bring your own. Their app is also incredibly helpful to have because it gives you plenty of info whilst the interactive map makes things incredibly easier! I would go here on a weekday to avoid the rush and to get a parking spot that's not far far away. It seriously took us over 30 minutes to find out and we got there at 10am. Plan accordingly. Most animals look happy! But the elephants definitely need more water in their exhibit to thrive.

2 months agoSimply an amazing Zoo! We had a fantastic time with the kids. Everything is clean, well-maintained, and truly built with love. We enjoyed all the small details, like the animal figurines, statues, and decorations. The layout of the viewing areas is thoughtfully designed so you can still see the animals up close, even when they’re resting in the shade. Special kudos to the lady hosting at the carousel 🎠—you are awesome!

a week agoI had read on other reviews that you should prepare to spend at least 3 to 4 hours here. I was very skeptical at first, but found myself visiting for 4-5 hours!! Plenty of areas to sit down and relax as well, with quite a few options for snacks and drinks available. Coming from New Zealand, it was VERY warm out. There were a few enclosures (especially the reptile enclosure) that were nice and cool. Make sure that you book your tickets online as they weren’t doing gate sales at the time. There’s also a good amount of parking nearby, and once you’ve visited the zoo, you can take a relaxing walk around Hermann Park
