a week agoI'm so glad we stopped by here during our trip to San Antonio. We had been pleasantly surprised that the upper and lower parts were wheelchair accessible. Obviously not everything was accessible such as the waterfall up close, but it was a visit enjoyed by the whole family. I'm sure this place is used as a beautiful backdrop for weddings and photos year round.

a week agoFirst and foremost, this place is just SUPER pretty and completely free, which, in and of itself, probably makes it worthy of 5 stars. But I also loved the fact that its various connected pathways span different "levels" allowing you to see/experience the beauty/garden from all sorts of different angles and views (and also adding to the amount of time you can spend there without it getting old). Definitely recommend for anyone whose cup of "tea" (:D) this type of place is!

a month agoNice place to visit, there is a bit of walking involved to enjoy the space but it is quaint and has a nice feel to it. A bit crowded when we visited during spring break but it was still nice. I would recommend to the garden staff that they look into a professional who can assist in adding more places to mediate and relax to empower the garden. A few strategically places resting areas within the gardens would really boost tourism and I think allow for more enjoyment.

2 weeks agoThis place is beyond stunning, absolutely serene and peaceful and a must visit if you're in the area of San Antonio Zoo as it's only a few minute walk down the street, or you can catch the scenic train that has a stop at the Japanese tea gardens. It's free entry and the gardens are amazingly well kept an easy walk to see most of the immediate gardens inside or you can take a mild walk up the edges to get an aerial view looking down onto the gardens

a month agoThis garden is very well manicured and fun to walk around in, although in our opinion it is not a Japanese tea garden. Keep in mind that it is quite small and often very crowded, so we did not think it was a very relaxing experience. Nonetheless, it was a nice stroll before going to the larger botanical garden and the koi fish and waterfall were nice. You can see the whole garden in about 15 minutes, depending on the crowds. We walked from the Japanese tea garden past the zoo to get to the botanical garden, which was a nice walk through various parks. If the Japanese garden it is on your way or you are looking for a short free activity definitely give it a visit, but for a relaxing garden day visit the botanical gardens.
