a week agoComing from New Orleans, we’re used to having a spectacular zoo to go to. We came to this one on one of the last days of our trip and we are so happy we did. It’s truly a special place. The animals have large, spacious enclosures. The layout is easy to navigate, and there were numerous cooling stations along the way too. If we lived here, we’d become members in no time!

a week agoI had a great time! Was a little packed, but it was the weekend. I loved all the up close and personal activities, with the animals. However, it seems like the animals have outgrown their enclosures.. The animals seemed sad… But, I see plenty of renovations! So hopeful to see more next time! Had no issues finding parking either! And I got in 10,000 steps. I’d recommend.

a week agoI had lots of fun even though we got there kinda late and don’t get to see everything they close at 5 and we got there at like 2:30-3 ish and many enclosure were missing animals not sure if they were inside or what. My favorite part that I got to see was definitely the reptile and aquatic life! Got some really good pictures too!

3 weeks agoHad a really great time! The highlight was feeding the giraffe! Feeding prices are reasonable! Staff were super nice! Parking: GPS took us to the parking garage… which was nice bc it was free and the car wasn’t hot when we got back. But it’s like a 3-4 min walk…. There is outdoor parking across from the zoo.

a month agoSpent the day at the San Antonio zoo for the first time while in town visiting with family. Loved seeing the diversity of animals, ranging from small-large mammals, many brilliant birds, and very cool reptiles. I had not been to the SA zoo before, but I have heard from family and other locals it has been greatly improved and can see the results of that—I hope the zoo continues to improve and grow! Staff were very friendly, kind, helpful, and knowledgeable. Due to construction of the new exhibit, my family and I got lost a couple of times (probably due to our own error with the map), but staff were very helpful in directing. As well, staff were enthusiastic in sharing about specific animals, which was really appreciated. Did not have small children with us today, but this would be a great place for a family with children and little ones, as there are many activities interspersed throughout the zoo for children. Could easily be an all day experience, especially with kids. Would recommend visiting on a cooler weekday in the morning-early afternoon—I think we saw more animals out and about because of timing!
