a month agoThis is a great store. I have been going to REI for years. But in the past in Massachusetts. The store here in Fresno CA is new to me First visit last month. The guality of the products has always been above average. But I found the staff in the Fresno store to be extremely knowledgeable and professional. I am a senior planning my first trip to Africa . So I have had lots of basic questions regarding everything from boots to treaking poles. They have been so helpful. Never have felt any "age" discrimination . I have not found that to be the case in other stores. This REI Store gets 5 stars

a month agoJust got back from the store. The lady upstairs was very nice. She helped my wife figure out what was best for our future trip. She was informative and the best thing, she wore white hokas and knew about the shoe regarding comfort and fit. This was our first time at the shop and it won't be the last. They have a wide selection of outdoor brands. I did not catch the ladie's name but thank you again.

a month agoThis location needs a name change: REI to DMV. Good cost and decent equipment for rental ski boots but I sat in the store for OVER AN HOUR for their “function release test” on the skis that I had to bring in that the boots would be used for. Considering that there was no apology for the delay, and there wasn’t a single person who also rented boots during the entire time I was there, I can only assume this incredibly slow procedure is the norm. I will not be renting from here again. Spending over an hour to make sure the brake releases on a pair of skis which would take me less than 5 minutes to test is ridiculous. Please just pay a little more and rent at the ski hill, the saved cost is not worth your whole afternoon. I can’t even imagine if there was a line in front of me on the day I came in…

3 weeks agoNot sure what the issue is with this place, but I've never had a smooth, enjoyable experience here. I've come numerous times because they're the only spot that *supposedly* has a large number of Hokas in stock, yet everytime I've come to buy a pair, they take a ridiculously long time trying to locate them, or just flat out don't have them, even though online they have it listed as in stock at the store. Everything takes forever to get done and I've never left with what I wanted. I purchased a pair of shoes today and it'll be my last time supporting the company.

2 months agoJoined REI membership for $30 and we received a $30 credit to use in 30 days. You can return almost anything to the store within a year so if the item you purchased does not work out as planned they will refund you. Dan helped me find the right hiking shoe and offered old school fitting and service.
