💡Pro Tips from Reviews
- →Plan your visit for April or mid-April to experience peak wildflowers (like Poppies) and benefit from cooler temperatures on the otherwise exposed trails.
- →Bring ample water, sunscreen, and sturdy hiking shoes, especially given the exposed trails and steep inclines.
- →Be prepared for potential mud if visiting after recent rains; check local conditions beforehand.
- →If bringing a dog, ensure it is on a leash, as required.
- →Consider hiking the 'Coyote Peak and Ridge Trail Loop' (3.8 miles, ~1 hr 50 mins, moderately challenging) for a rewarding experience.
- →Don't miss the 'vista loop' for a great view of South San Jose.
Things to Consider
- ⚠Trails are completely exposed, meaning they can get very hot outside of the cooler spring months (e.g., April/mid-April).
- ⚠Trails can become muddy after rains, potentially making hiking more challenging or less enjoyable for young children.
- ⚠Features significant, steep inclines (e.g., the biggest hill-climb is steep), requiring good physical preparedness, appropriate footwear, water, and sunscreen.
- ⚠Wildlife sightings include coyotes and snakes, which parents of very young children may want to be aware of.

a year agoCoyote Peak and Ridge Trail Loop - 3.8 miles and 1 hr 50 mins to complete Moderately challenging Probably the Best park in San Jose since there are Lots of different trails & many different ways to choose from. The trails are clearly marked, but they can get a bit muddy after rains. Benches are scattered around the scenic spots. The best time to visit is in April. Since the trail is completely exposed, April is not that hot. Also you can see a lot of wild flowers, even Poppy. Dogs are welcome, but must be on a leash. Kids friendly hike

2 years agoBeautiful park. Lots of different trails, lots of different ways to go. There are some amazing views of the San Jose area and the hills. On a clear day day you can see all the way from San Francisco to Morgan Hill. Yes really! The biggest hill-climb is steep. Worth it. We saw lizards, squirrels, a coyote, snake, wild flowers, creek, golf course
