🍎Food Policy

  • Lunch and snacks are included in the camp fee.
  • Meals are provided by partner restaurants; menus include rotating specials, vegetarian options, and healthy snacks and sides.
  • Daily vegetarian option available (e.g., cheese pizza).
  • Gluten-free snacks (e.g., Good Pops popsicles) are available for children without severe gluten allergies.
  • Kosher meal options can be preselected by parents during Express Check-In the evening before or on the camp day.
  • No food items provided by camp contain nuts or nut products. However, some products may have been packaged or prepared in a facility that handles nuts and may be labeled 'may contain nuts'.
  • Campers and staff are asked to refrain from bringing nuts or shellfish or food containing these allergens to camp.
  • Severe/Life-Threatening Allergies: Families must provide all food (lunch and snacks) from home. Food must be ready-to-eat (no refrigeration/heating available). Campers with severe allergies are not permitted to participate in food activities (e.g., Bakery, Pie Day). EpiPens are required where necessary. Option to request separate seating during lunch.
  • Moderate Allergies: Campers can participate in food activities and are not required to bring food from home. Camp closely monitors snacks, lunch, and activities to avoid listed allergens. Meal options can be preselected via Express Check-In.
  • Lunch orders must be placed by 9:45 AM via Express Check-In. Default lunch is cheese pizza if no selection is made by 9:30 AM.
  • Lunchtime typically concludes around 12:30 PM.
  • Parents are encouraged to pack a labeled reusable water bottle.
  • Parents are advised to avoid packing sodas, juices, or sugary treats in their child's lunch.
  • Food is delivered by a non-contact delivery service and served in a spacious outdoor area whenever possible. Staff trained in safety measures (gloves, disposable utensils).

🛡️Safety Policy

  • All staff members are background-checked and trained in CPR and First-Aid.
  • Youngest Camper Support Staff are available to assist younger campers.
  • Staff-to-camper ratio is 1:8 on average, with ratios meeting or exceeding state mandates in specific licensing states.
  • Camps conduct safety and emergency drills monthly (evacuation, shelter in place, lock-out). Notification signs posted prior to and on drill days.
  • No swimming activities offered due to logistical challenges, low popularity, and safety concerns with off-site transportation. Water play activities (sprinklers, slip n' slide, hoses, yard games) are available on-site.
  • All camp activities happen on-site at the host school. No field trips are conducted from this location; 'Specials' are brought in instead to ensure children do not leave campus during the day.
  • Masks are currently not required, but local health department mandates will be followed. Personal choice to wear a mask is supported.
  • Medication Policy: Parents must bring medications in a labeled box/bag and original packaging. A Medication Authorization form must be completed on Day 1. Medications are stored securely at camp headquarters and administered according to the form.
  • Gender Identity Policy: Campers can use bathroom facilities and pronouns aligning with their gender identity. Gender-neutral or private restroom options are provided; if not possible, alternative safe/comfortable options will be arranged.
  • Campers can leave and return to camp on the same day for outside classes or appointments. This policy does not apply to field trips (if any were offered at this location).
  • Children with special needs, disabilities, or health conditions are welcome. Accommodations are provided, but one-to-one care is not. Families may provide one-to-one support at their own expense after meeting specific requirements. Accompanying therapists/support staff must follow camp rules.
  • Lost and Found: Items are kept in a clearly marked area. Labeled items are easier to return. Unclaimed items are donated weekly on Friday.
  • Prohibited Items: Cell phones/smartwatches (unless in pocket/bag, airplane/school mode, not shared), tablets, games, other tech items, valuables (jewelry, money, sentimental items), toys/games (e.g., Pokemon cards), dangerous/restricted items (weapons, illicit substances, contraband), animals.

📅Booking Policy

  • Enrollment is open, but capacity may vary by location. Check availability online or contact customer support.
  • Registration is completed online by creating an account or logging in, selecting the Chicago - Lincoln Park location, choosing Day Passes or a Summer Pass, and completing payment (credit card or ACH).
  • Registration is confirmed only after payment is received.
  • State-required paperwork (physical exam forms, immunization records for Illinois) must be submitted before the first day of camp via an emailed link from Sign Now (noreply@signnow.com). Paperwork for Illinois requires both Physical and Immunization records dated within 36 months of the start of camp and up-to-date immunizations based on the state schedule. Physical copies can be brought for review if uploaded late.
  • Express Check-In (ECI) is required daily, available from 6 PM the evening before the camp day. This includes selecting a camp location, answering health screening questions, and choosing a lunch option. A QR code is generated for quick check-in at drop-off.
  • If ECI is not completed online, meal selections can be made on-site during in-person check-in.
  • Campers can attend any open location with a Day Pass or Summer Pass by selecting the desired site during Express Check-In. For permanent location changes or attending one location more than 50% of the time, contact the local director for account update (may require refund/repurchase process for different pricing tiers).
  • Bright Horizons Back-Up Care users must reserve care through Bright Horizons (877-242-2737 or My Bright Horizons portal) and are limited to the location listed on their reservation. Changes require contacting Bright Horizons directly. Paperwork specifically from Bright Horizons is not needed at Steve & Kate's Camps; only state-required documents via the S&K account.
  • Accounts can be merged if a customer has multiple (e.g., one from Bright Horizons). Contact support with both email addresses.
  • Virtual orientation information will be emailed to registered families closer to summer.
  • Morning tours for first-time campers are offered during summer months (not Boston locations).
