Insider tips
- If planning a child's birthday party, inquire about the yoga room capacity and confirm party activity details, as it was a hit for a 5-year-old's celebration.
- Dress in light, breathable clothing, especially if you tend to get warm, as the facility can be hot near windows.
- For parties, leverage the flexibility to bring your own food, drinks, and decorations (excluding piñatas and alcohol) to customize the event and potentially save costs.
- If your child is a seasoned climber, this venue might not offer enough long-term challenge due to infrequent route setting and hold issues; consider it for an occasional visit rather than regular training.
- Utilize the free lockers to secure personal items during your visit.
Good to know before you go
- If your child is an experienced or advanced climber seeking new, frequently updated routes and high-quality, clean holds.
- If you or your children are particularly sensitive to warm indoor temperatures and prefer cooler climbing environments.
- Regular visits for experienced climbers, as the infrequent route setting may lead to boredom.
- Expecting extensive climbing options for very young toddlers, as the focus is on harnesses and climbing walls.
- Experienced climbers reported significant issues with hold cleanliness (chalky), worn-out holds lacking texture, and cracks needing cleaning, which impacts grip.
- Crowds
- Crowd levels are not explicitly mentioned in the reviews. However, the concern about 'poorly trained instructors allowing beginner groups to climb on overlapping routes' might imply busy periods where supervision could be strained, particularly for beginner groups.
- Value
- Prices are consistently described as 'pretty reasonable' and 'worth the money'. For birthday parties, the value includes attentive belayers, staff assistance for setup, and the significant flexibility of allowing outside food, drinks, and decorations. A group offer of both rock climbing and bouldering for a single price was noted as 'generous'. No specific dollar amounts were provided in the reviews, but the perceived value for the services offered, especially for groups and parties, is high.
- Food
- For birthday parties: Outside food, drinks, music, and decorations are allowed in the party room.
- Accessibility
- No specific accommodations for special needs or disabilities were mentioned in the reviews.
- Safety
- Experienced staff belayers ensure climbers feel 'so safe' in their harnesses and have 'full control of the situation'.
What parents say
"I recently visited The Gravity Vault in Hoboken, and it was an awesome experience! My belay was super helpful and kept encouraging me to push myself and try more climbs. The staff were all really friendly, and the prices were pretty reasonable too. The whole place was clean and well-maintained, which made the experience even better. I had a lot of fun and definitely want to go back to try more challenging climbs—and maybe even work toward becoming a certified rock climber!"

"2-Person Staff Belay Date Nite was the highlight of my week! I learned something new and got a workout out of it! The physical and mental challenges together are so exhilarating, and I felt so safe in my harness! Shout-out to Liz, our staff belayer - She was so down to earth and chill. It really made you feel like she's been doing this awhile and had full control of the situation. She made sure we felt safe and catered the experience to our needs/desires! We'll definitely be back. 😃"

"A great place to do some rock climbing before trying it on a actual mountain. Never been to such a place and the experience was amazing. The staff is very hospitable and they are generous enough to offer us Rock Climbing and Bouldering both under the same price for a friend’s birthday. Highly recommended for a team’s event or any outings with friends. Solid experience and worth the money. They have lockers which are free to put your belongings as well"
