About Witter Aquatic Center

Witter Aquatic Center offers a clean, well-maintained indoor swimming facility with ample, organized parking, particularly suitable for organized swim events and public lap swimming. It boasts a high lifeguard presence, which can contribute to a sense of safety within the pool area for young children. However, parents should be aware of significant security vulnerabilities, including reported theft of personal belongings and a complete lack of security cameras, coupled with potential issues of rude and inconsistent rule enforcement by some lifeguard staff.

  • **Lap Swim Reservations**: For public lap swim, make a reservation in advance via the City of Spokane website or call 311 to secure your spot.
  • **Slide Height**: If your child is close to the 48-inch slide height requirement, be prepared for potential inconsistent enforcement by different lifeguards.
  • **Young Swimmers**: If your young child (e.g., 5-year-old) is still learning to swim, be aware that lifeguards may be very strict even for minor splashing in the kiddie area.

Good to know before you go

  • If you are unable to closely monitor all personal belongings and rely on facility security, due to reported theft and lack of cameras.
  • If your child is close to the 48-inch height requirement for slides and inconsistent enforcement would be a significant issue.
  • If your child is a sensitive learner in the water or prone to minor splashing, as lifeguards can be overly strict and unwelcoming.
  • If you expect a high level of customer service or consistent rule application from all staff.
  • Theft incidents of personal belongings (e.g., shoes) have been reported.
Crowds

"My boys went swimming today had a great time. They put their things right where they could see their things.. but one of my boys got his shoes stolen (his only pair) when I arrived to pick them up and talked to manager they told me they have no cameras on site and couldn’t even put a police report in or do anything - I find that really strange 6-20-2024 size 9’s"
